So we have a 2 year old and a newborn on the way and are not
comfortable leaving child gates and the door to the basement door open.
So up to now the kitty litter has been in the downstairs bathroom BUT
this does not work - despite cleaning morning and night it really is

auto litterbox29 Nov 2005 19:38 GMT3
Can anyone recommend (or talk me out of) an automatic litter box?  The two
leading brands seem to be Purrforma and Littermaid, but the customer reviews
I have found are pretty contradictory.

I've just joined the newsgroup, nice to be amongst fellow cat lovers! I
have a cat that i got when he was failry younf (about 3 months), have had
him now for only a couple of months, however i have noticed the cat becoming
more and more agressive towards myself, my girlfriend ...
carpet vs sisal on scratching post29 Nov 2005 06:29 GMT6
my cats (7 and 3 years old) have a tiered scratching post that they've
always paid a lot of attention to.
the carpet was shredded, so i replaced it with sisal rope, having read
somewhere that sisal was a better surface for claw exercise anyway.

Getting Cat To Stop Shredding Furniture?28 Nov 2005 23:35 GMT9
Is it even possible, or should we just think in terms of covering?
We have a little spritzer and started squirting the cat when it claws the wrong
things, but all it learned to do was run away when it saw one of us reaching for
the spritzer.
cats v dogs28 Nov 2005 18:11 GMT3
Well I vote for dogs, because
1) on the whole, cats are much cuiter
2) even the sounds they make are far cuiter. Meows and purring is far
more cuit than barking or howling
my cat likes to groom my hair28 Nov 2005 04:32 GMT5
when I'm lying in bed reading a book, my cat likes to jump on my pillow
and groom my hear.  He give me a scalp massage, which feels great, and
then he licks my hair.  I hope he does not get furrballs from licking
my hair!
I miss my little Lucy27 Nov 2005 17:18 GMT9
Last month Lucy's CRF suddenly made a turn for the worse. The CRF was
diagnosed last August and with the treatments I thought I had it under
control. But one morning while she was kneading her favorite bed blanket she
fell over and could not get up I knew it was time for the vet ...
Longhaired cat27 Nov 2005 14:25 GMT4
I don't know why, but I'm trying to find out what original breed our
longhaired Tiffany could be.
I have consulted books and internet, but it's not easy at all. For a Maine
Coon she's too small although the other characteristics (temper, neck, tail)
Weirdest cat sleeping location?27 Nov 2005 04:44 GMT13
Ok, my cat has prompted me to ask what are some of the weirdest locations
your cat uses to sleep?
If I leave the bathroom door open, my cat hops into the bathroom sink and
drops into a sleep in three seconds flat. Don't know if it's the cool
Cat repellent for  strayed house cats?27 Nov 2005 04:12 GMT6
Hello, Thanks for reading.
I'm writing from Latin America. Some strayed house cats are coming to
my patio at nights and I want to get rid of them, yet I do not want to
harm them. I have searched the internet and found some interesting

Have people heard about the lady in Columbus, Ohio who abandoned 35 kittens?
Her sentence-a day and night (I guess before it was this cold, it's snowing
right now) in the woods so she'll know how they felt. Aren't punishments
supposed to fit the crimes? This is like she tapped ...
