What is the best bait that will have long lasting smell to attract a cat to a havahart trap? Just cat food scums over after a day and Im not sure is effective then. thanks for any input

if a cat is caught once in a havahart trap..... will it be wary that it can never be caught again in the same type of trap? any thoughts appreciated.

I've tried carpet tape, sticky side up. I haven't tried powders/chemicals of some type they may hate. What will inhibit the cat besides putting a dog on the counter to keep them off? Thanks...

Is there a way to disuade cats from visiting our yard? Is there a spray or something one can use to discourage them from visiting? We dont want to take a chance with them hurting our indoor cats if they happend to get out.. Any thoughts welcome.
