Oh for Gawd's Sake!28 Jul 2007 18:23 GMT53
God forbid I tell anyone else how/when/why to post - this *IS* UseNet.  But
I am *SO* sick of the juvenile bullshit always being posted here to the
exclusion of any on-topic posts - and apparently I'm not the only one since
a lot of long-time regulars seem to have given up and ...
Kitty learns how to get attention28 Jul 2007 17:46 GMT2
A long time ago when Rhett and Scarlett (littermates, now 3 years
old, but adopted at about 9 weeks) were learning how to play, how
to scratch their toys, learning everything, I would praise them for
scratching their posts and cat tree and the turbo scratcher that

Just a note to those of you kind enough to care ...
We scheduling conflict so Boo has to be rescheduled in August.

Standing in Line at Petsmart28 Jul 2007 13:11 GMT7
I was behind a woman who had a bag of "Cat Attract" litter. (this is
litter that's supposed to actually
attract cats. It's used also for training kittens to use the
litterbox.)
16 Year Old Cat28 Jul 2007 02:33 GMT10
I have a cat named Sammy, he is 16 years old.  I have noticed in the
last few days that his fur is ruffled and he is not eating as much as
he used to.  He is thinning out and throwing up his food, and a clear
foamy liquid.  The vets have told me that it's just old age.  I'm

Sammy's Sick!27 Jul 2007 18:27 GMT9
I'm so sick about this - I can't stop kicking myself, I should have caught
this *SO* much sooner!
I saw that Sammy had thrown up a prodigious amount in the garage when I woke
up this morning.  As has been said in other posts, Sammy has been living

Update on Sammy27 Jul 2007 14:27 GMT4
Sammy's diarrhea is worse today - I watched her using the litterbox and it's
liquid.  Her butt is sore (just like a human with diarrhea) and her licking
it is making it more sore.  I talked with the vet and she said for today to
use Vaseline on her butt just like you would a baby ...
Managing a cat with cystitis27 Jul 2007 14:03 GMT7
For those of you who have cats that sometimes have bouts of acute cystitis:
What do you do when you start noticing signs that suggest your cat's
becoming uncomfortable?  Is it off to the vet right then, or do you have
a vet-approved way of dissolving the crystals or whatever ...
Curly toes27 Jul 2007 05:33 GMT3
Every morning, when she hears me stir and begin to wake, Gracie jumps down
from the screened window where she has been watching the birds and greets
me, talking to me while she scratches her scratch pad, head down, paws
extended, butt high and long tail curling above.
16 Year Old Cat27 Jul 2007 05:22 GMT34
Well, he has been given cat milk since he was a baby and for the last
16 years he has had it every morning.  I did not give him any today.
We also give him aspirin for his bones, per our vet.  I noticed that
when we gave him the aspirin, he would get sick.  I stopped giving him
16 Year Old Cat27 Jul 2007 00:40 GMT2
Well again everyone, Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Everything you have given me is so very useful!  I'm going to stop
giving him the aspirin.  He seems to be a lot better without it.  You
guys ROCK! Thank God for places like this, so we can all lean from
16 Year Old Cat26 Jul 2007 22:35 GMT3
Thank you so much for the advise!  I did call another place and they
told me to try wet food. He is drinking a lot of water and his cat
milk, so he's ok in that department.  He did eat some but not as much
as I had hoped and so far he has kept it down.  He's also sleeping a
Cat can tell when nursing home residents will die26 Jul 2007 21:23 GMT4
Haven't done a ton of back-research on this, but the article is
alarming, and from a non-tabloid source, apparently.
Most of us folks who follow companion animal news have bumped into
stories about seizure-sensing dogs and cats, as well as animals that
