Problems getting dental cleaning21 Jan 2006 08:15 GMT1
I have an almost 2 y/o cat that has severe gingivitis. She's had it
since she was 2 months old which is when I found her and her siblings.
The cat is chronically infected with viral herpes virus as well as
calicivirus. The vet thinks the calicivirus is what caused the
Spots around ears?21 Jan 2006 01:02 GMT3
One of our cats has developed small  red scabby spots just infront of
the ears and the fur seems thinner. The inner ear seems clean though.
Any ideas what these could be?
Clipping Cat's nails question20 Jan 2006 22:15 GMT8
I would NEVER get my Sammi declawed..And I don't care for soft paws either..
But her claws do get sharp. At a recent vet's visit the vet described them as
"daggers" and clipped them. The result was great. She still had  use of them,
but they wouldn't tear skin on the slightest ...

Sasha is home20 Jan 2006 16:12 GMT2
Sasha came home Monday afternoon with  a BUN of 78. He said it was not
a low as he would like but hopes being home will make a difference in
her since he saw how she perks up when I visited. Dr. gave a lesson on
giving her subQ's and she gets 100ml twice a day. She was so HAPPY to
What's with Wellness?20 Jan 2006 16:12 GMT26
My cars were enjoying 7 or so Wellness cans flavors and then one by one they
didn't want them any more so they got down to Turkey and Turkey and Salmon.
The last 2 times I gave them Turkey and Salmon they wouldn't eat it.  I
threw it out and will return the 5 cans I have left over.  ...
Freezing raw meats to kill parasites20 Jan 2006 07:07 GMT7
I've begun feeding my cats the following raw people foods: egg yolks,
chicken, beef, and beef livers. I'll probably give them various chicken
organ meats in the future. Is freezing an effective way to kill parasites on
all of these raw foods?
Pet Owners Must Keep Pet Diaries20 Jan 2006 01:35 GMT1
Are you keeping a diary of your pets daily routine and medications?
According to the Pet Care Trust PCT you should be or you may fall foul
of the new Animal Welfare Bill, (AWB).

Do cats see ghosts?20 Jan 2006 01:06 GMT22
Oh wait, I forgot, I'm not superstitious.
I reprhase; why do cats sometimes seem to spring up from their
restfulness and stare intensely into the void of the room as if they
had seen something?
Clumping litter that doesn't suck!19 Jan 2006 15:00 GMT18
My all time favorite litter continues to be WBCL (World's Best Cat
Litter), but lately I haven't had convenient access to any so I've been
buying grocery store varieties, with mixed results. I've noticed that
most clumping litters crumble or get gooey when I try to scoop them

Feline distemper and dogs question18 Jan 2006 09:17 GMT9
Follow-ups set to rpdh
My brother-in-law's girlfriend recently got a kitten from the local pound.
Shortly after getting it, it died of Feline Distemper (according to the
vet). I have a couple of questions:
Scared and Sad Kitten - Please Help!18 Jan 2006 09:16 GMT8
Our 6-month old kitten is terribly scared of everything at the moment.
As she has been recovering from illness (I'll give more detail below),
we have been letting her come out of her shell but she's getting to a
point now where it's 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.
Feeding Meep (cystitis questions!)18 Jan 2006 09:15 GMT7
Ok.  So, those who have been following along know that Meep, who will be
10 this year, has had two bouts of cystitis attacks that sent her to the
vet, and more recently had two "almost" episodes.
I'm doing everything I can to keep her hydrated and medicated, she has a
fibrosarcoma (non-vaccine related) and amputation18 Jan 2006 01:53 GMT9
Thank you so much for all of the information that all of you have posted.  My
kitty, Merlin, is 8 and I absolutely adore him!!! He has been diagnosed with
a fibrosarcoma in his
front left paw.  They did a surgery to remove the tumor but it had dirty
