Microchip compatible w/ some medical procedures?09 Nov 2005 02:48 GMT10
I wasn't sure how to phrase the heading.
We had our cats microchipped yesterday.  They are healthy now, but I was
wondering in case of future health problems, will we need to take any
special precautions with procedures such as hydration or injecting insulin
more on the heart & kidney problems09 Nov 2005 02:03 GMT1
Hi all!  I posted last week about Spam, my 13 year old boy cat who has
a heart murmur and kidney problems.  We had the ultrasound today and got
some better news.  The murmur/cardiomyopathy is the most serious problem
so he's been put on atenolol.  He's got a checkup in a week and ...

As some of you know, my 19 yo has been having accidents lately.  I had
purchased a quart spray bottle of Anti Icky Poo (AIP)(a bacterial based
cleaner) about a month back.  I'm ready to post my review.  This stuff
ROCKS!  I was previously using Capture (dry powder cleaner) to do all

Hopefully.
Anyone in the UK with nervous pets will no doubt be welcoming the hopeful
end of the Bonfire Night carryon which usually starts 2 weeks earlier and in
many cases goes on way after the 5th as well.
Hair Loss08 Nov 2005 17:10 GMT7
My long haired 4-5 yr. old Isabelle is losing more hair around her hind
quarters. We adopted her around 2 years ago and she came with a bald belly
(they had shaved her to look for her spay scar) but long hair everywhere
else and thick hair on her hind legs. Her tummy hair ...

Cat that licks edges.08 Nov 2005 04:36 GMT8
One of my cats does something that has always confused me,. so I figured I
would ask about it here.
He licks things. I know a lot of cats do, but I dont mean food things, or
plastic, which he does, but he is constantly licking the edges of things. Of
Still looking for info.  Let me try a different tactic to get some discussion going!08 Nov 2005 02:26 GMT12
I have been a lifelong lover of animals.  I don't find it odd that I
fell into the job that I did (Zoonotic disease Research Analyst)
working for the state.  I've become involved in a  lot of animal
oriented projects at a much higher magnitude, but I remember, and
Kitten that never shuts up07 Nov 2005 20:48 GMT4
We have a 6 mo. old female kitten that does not shut up.  She even
seems to talk to herself.  She was always yappy but it increased after
she was spayed.  I should point out that she is an indoor cat that only
gets outside if one of us is with her or sometimes by herself for a
Bloody vomit - is it related to HCM/Atenolol?07 Nov 2005 17:45 GMT7
I'm having trouble tracking down information online about my cat'
symptoms, and I stumbled across this forum and thought somebody her
might have some advice or information.
My 3-yr. old female cat, Mya, was diagnosed with hypertrophi
Cat scratches itself until it bleeds07 Nov 2005 17:04 GMT5
We have a female cloud tabby aged about 4 years that has taken to
excessive scratching - to the point that she is digging at her own
flesh. We have always been regular with flea treatments and she is in
overall excellent health.
How to make a litter box from a priority mail box07 Nov 2005 15:16 GMT1
OK, as you may know, my 19 yo needed a new litter in our family room to
help him with his accidents.  I grabbed a priority mail box (the kind
you get free at the post office)(good thing I am an eBayer and have
this handy) and sliced the top off of it, leaving the side panels and
augh! heart murmurs and chronic renal failure...07 Nov 2005 11:33 GMT24
Well, I got Spam to the vet today, and discovered he wasn't as
arthritic as thought.  His back legs are the result of an underdeveloped
cerebellum and he isn't in any pain, but we should watch for arthritis
in his hips in the future.
Repellent: Methyl Nonyl Ketone?07 Nov 2005 07:54 GMT15
I'm getting ready to order one of those laser mice toys from Drs.
Foster and Smith (our Pet Smart is out of stock until the holidays) and
am tempted to order some of that spray cat repellent that contains
Methyl Nonyl Ketone. They have a can for about five dollars.
