Does anyone know why my 9yo male cat would have episodes of loud gulping (maybe 20 swallows at a time) along with some kind of dry coughing? His purring and meows have changed too--the purring is rougher and the meows are just different(?). He has no problem

My roommate's cat's nose has started turning a brownish color over the last week, and today I noticed it's more read, puffy, and the top/sides of his nose are starting to kinda open up. It's not bloody or pussy from what I can tell, but it definitly isn't normal.

2 weeks ago my 2 year old indoor-only Manx "Gray" managed to rip out his front right index claw. After 2-3 days it started to smell terrible so off to the vet we went. The vet said it may or may not grow back, and prescribed Amoxi drops to fight off infection.
