Using a weight based formula for Frontline dose calculation22 May 2005 07:51 GMT4
As a healthcare professional working in an Emergency Department I can
attest to the common practice of calculating medications on the basis
of the patient's weight. For example Heparin infusins are given on a
weight based formula, as well as OTC medications such as Tylenol and

jaundice in elderly cat - need objective advice21 May 2005 18:02 GMT12
I got home from work last night to discover that my 19 year old cat has
jaundice.I took him to the vet this morning.
I knew it was serious, but I figured it was either treatable, or I
would be comforting him til he took a turn for the worse. After having
Louis piss remediation - part II21 May 2005 05:31 GMT11
Bought another diffuser and put it downstairs near the prime spot he's
been marking. Did another big clean-up, though I'm worried that stuff
has seeped down past the flooring into the floorboards. Using an
enzymatic cleaner, but the animalark website suggests a cleaner called
Update Hyperthyroidism - not21 May 2005 03:42 GMT5
Thanks for all your responses. Well the vet guessed wrong. Isis had a very
malignant and aggressive cancer (the kind with tendrils) deep between her
shoulder blades. Surgery and chemo would only give a very poor prognosis so
this morning I said good-bye to my friend.

Stale Cat Food - G Rated21 May 2005 02:20 GMT20
Dry cat food just sitting in the bowl gets stale after about 4 hours,
by the next morning it is very stale, no wonder my cat wants new food
on top of old food.
I did the taste test. New food, ok...it's just cornmeal..a few chicken
Morning after pill21 May 2005 02:14 GMT35
I wonder if there are alternatives to neuturing, like birth control for
the females cats. Then the males could get thier groove on without us
having to worry about the population.
This could work for a pet, I realize a homeless cat would miss too many
Frontline as a weight based formula?21 May 2005 01:40 GMT2
Can Frontline be applied on a weight based formula? As a medical
professional this is frequently used as a basis for dosage on humans.
For example, my dog is 13 lbs, the application is for dogs up to 22lbs
in 0.67 ml. This calculates to .395 ml for my dog per application. With
My cat is eating the dirt of my plants21 May 2005 01:22 GMT9
Hi all, My cat has been eating the dirt in my potted plants lately.
Just taking big clumps and eating it and I can't seem to stop him. I'm
guessing he's either stressed or there's something missing in his diet.
Has anyone heard of this or had similar problems?
recommended amounts on canned food20 May 2005 19:55 GMT53
I had to laugh when I was at the grocery store not a half hour ago.  I
stopped at the cat food isle (cant let Gabers and Oreo starve!!) and decided
to look at all the different canned foods.  Since there has been a lot of
talk about the recommended amount for them, I decided to look ...
hyperthyroidism20 May 2005 17:32 GMT8
My 8 year old cat is in the hospital for complete diagnosis and fluids. All
seems normal except for thyroid test (which the vet suspects is the problem)
not yet back. I adopted her and her littermate - both wild and unsocialized
and the two reinforce each other's fearful behavior ...
Cat with liver problems (long)20 May 2005 11:18 GMT7
We've only just found this newsgroup from searching google groups
looking for information on cats with liver problems.
We just took out 10 year old male desexed cat to the vet last Thursday
due to an abcess on his ear that was causing his face to puff up.  He
Please help with a very ill and very beloved pet20 May 2005 08:30 GMT7
My friend has a very beloved little cat who's just over 3 years old,
who despite early immunization caught feline leukaemia and now has an
upper respiratory infection. He's quite ill with it now (though he was
fine and playful, his usual self, on Wednesday before his upper
