| Help interpreting urinalysis results | 09 Mar 2005 05:53 GMT | 3 |
I have been doing home urine monitoring with my cat who is prone to urinary blockage. In my home tests (using reagent strips) I am regularly finding a high positive for leukocytes (white blood cells). Testing at my vet's office confirms this using reagent strips. The ph is also high ...

| Reducing cat's weight - need advice. | 09 Mar 2005 05:28 GMT | 4 |
I just got back from the vet and needed a second+ opinion. My cat's weight in late November '04 was around 17.5 lb and she now weighs 19 lb. - she's around 4 or 5 years old. I usually feed her 3 scoops of food (IAMS Hairball care) per day (about

| Cat food recommendations please | 08 Mar 2005 23:47 GMT | 1 |
One of my two neutered male cats was recently diagnosed with a urinary tract blockage. So my vet prescribed "Urinary SO 30" by Royal Canin. Its kind of pricey. Up to now my cats have enjoyed a diet of purina cat chow, supplemented occasionally with treats.

| Castor & Pollux dry food? | 08 Mar 2005 23:42 GMT | 6 |
I've asked many questions about Moses, our IBD cat, so let's give Bartholemew, our quite healthy orange tabby, equal time. I mentioned that I'd gotten some samples of various high quality cat food from an online retailer. Some was canned, which was pretty much for Moses

I just noticed one of kitty's eyes looks milky. Her other eye looks normal. She seems to be acting normal - any ideas what this could be?

| Rescued cat: feral or just timid? | 08 Mar 2005 20:19 GMT | 22 |
I've gotten started with our local trap/spay/return cat rescue organization. On Monday I trapped one of the cats I've been feeding outside, and took her to be spayed. She was a little upset when I first found her in the have-a-heart trap, but settled down quickly and

| Adopting a stray.. is a mistake.. | 08 Mar 2005 07:12 GMT | 8 |
I'm done. I'm so demoralized about Henry. He's one of 20,000+ strays in my area that I decided to take an interest in.. who would otherwise end up euthanized in CO2 chambers at the local Humane Society.

African Serval of 28 lbs and 2 years old just jumped into a fish tank and bleeding everywhere. Only 2 months ago had 0.13 mL of thy*** -10 min wait- then 0.3 mL of Ketocet in muscle(don't know spelling, voicemail numbers from our vet back home).

| Unexplained sickness- please help if these symptoms sound familiar | 08 Mar 2005 02:59 GMT | 22 |
My 6 year old short-haired calico, Fiona, has not been acting herself recently. I'm very worried about her, but her vet does not seem to know what is wrong. Here are all of her particulars: Fiona is a strictly indoor cat. She is spayed.

| Cat collapses and cries - help! | 08 Mar 2005 02:04 GMT | 18 |
My almost-6 year old orange and white boy, Louie, has started some very strange behavior. He will lie down and keen very loudly as if he is in pain or is frightened, and if I try to stand him up, his front legs collapse and splay out in front of him in what seems to be an unnatural

| Young cat can't catch his breath after play? | 08 Mar 2005 00:03 GMT | 12 |
I have a young, indoor cat who is about three years old. He seems healthy in all respects but sometimes when playing he gets carried away and I wonder whether it's possible for him to do himself harm? For example this morning, he was chasing a toy on a string for about 20

| Anesthetic before euthanasia? Cat-death musings | 07 Mar 2005 22:09 GMT | 4 |
In a previous post I read that a poster's vet "knocked out" a kitty before delivering the fatal injection. This is a new idea to me. After many cats put down behind closed doors, I stayed with Abbey for her euthanasia (due to quickly spreading malignant mammarian tumors).

| Claws | 07 Mar 2005 20:24 GMT | 27 |
Since I've never owned a cat before, I'm wondering how often should claws be trimmed. She's an indoor cat probably about 8 months old (I've had her for 6 1/2 - I took her in because I thought it was too hot outside in August for

| should we adopt a male or a female kitten? | 07 Mar 2005 19:07 GMT | 1 |
We're wanting to adopt another cat to keep Sushi company. We think that getting a kitten less than 6 months old is the way to go, because there's a better chance everyone will get along. I've read about introducing them slowly, which we'll certainly do.
