About dog posts (Welcome)18 Jan 2005 00:05 GMT5
I think it's kind of cool people post about their dogs here. The posts I've
seen have asked about grief or euthanasia. And the posters here have responded
in kindness.
I kind of like that the dog owners (and many of has have both) post here,
Odd kitten behavior - help (long)17 Jan 2005 22:01 GMT6
I know this is long, but please bear with me.  I am hoping maybe someone
recognizes this behavior.  I have changed names in this story for privacy.
One of the higher-ups at our shelter has been trying to help her friend,
Carrie with a kitten she has that has biting issues and is ...
Should I be worried?17 Jan 2005 05:12 GMT65
First of all, let me say that I am WAY too attached to my cat, Quincy.
He became sick 12/31/04, but I didn't know what was wrong with him.
Because it was a holiday, I didn't bother calling the vet.  On 1/1/05,
I started noticing he was trying to use the litter box, but nothing was
Followup No. 3 on Moses ... good news!16 Jan 2005 15:20 GMT14
Cytology report from the needle aspiration came back, no cancer, his liver
is just inflamed. That's nothing to say "hip hip hooray" about, mind you,
but at least there was no cancer and we can get started on a regimen of
treatment.
Mixing Rice with Canned Cat Food15 Jan 2005 23:13 GMT37
I'm trying to reduce my two cats calorie and fat intake.  The Vet says
they are healthy but could lose a pound or two.
Does anyone have any experience with adding cooked rice to canned
food?  How much rice is enough - what's the correct ratio rice/cat
Sorta OT: I'm so proud15 Jan 2005 19:33 GMT3
Today, I had this conversation with DS,
who will be one year old next week:
Me: "J, what does a kitty say?"
J: "Ee-oow, ee-oow!" (Plain as day!)
Calming for Clipping15 Jan 2005 11:44 GMT12
I don't really need help with this for my cat, but for a friends cat.
She lets her cat's claws grow out really long and avoids clipping them
because "it's too much hassle". I've seen her try to clip her cat's
claws. She takes a towel and wraps the cut up like a soft taco with the

IBD and Wellness food - results?15 Jan 2005 02:06 GMT3
We have a cat in foster who has chronic diarrhea.  We've tried every
mediciation, different diets, the most recent being CA Natural Dry with a
basmati rice and acidophillus (sp?) supplement.  This was reccommended by a
holistic practitioner.  The cat finally stopped "leaking", ...
Followup No. 2 on my cat ...15 Jan 2005 01:58 GMT9
First off, he still lives ... and it was an interesting day.
I gave him half of a 5 mg Valium an hour before the trip to the internist as
the doctor suggested. Didn't work. He was about to kill himself before we
even got in the car, he was fighting the effects so hard. So I gave him ...
Question about cat predatory behavior15 Jan 2005 00:56 GMT13
Do domestic cats bury their prey like the big cats sometimes do?  I
personally have never seen one do so.   My dog dug up a dead golden
crowned kinglet that was buried in yard debris (similar to how a cat
would cover poop).  Just wondering if the neighbor's cat was the guilty
What are the early signs of arthritis?14 Jan 2005 21:18 GMT7
My cat Meep's around 8 years old now.  She has some fairly serious
abnormality in her limb structure, especially her hind legs (she can
run and jump normally, but probably not as high as a cat with better
legs).  When I talked to the vet when Meep was a kitten, she didn't
To euthanize or not: Need advice14 Jan 2005 11:15 GMT145
We have a 14-year-old neutered male cat, black.
He's been as good a pet as one could imagine and for most of his life he had
zero health problems.
For the last three or four years or so, though, he has developed a problem
Another odd cat behavior re litter box14 Jan 2005 09:07 GMT6
This is not a problem per se, but just something I thought I'd share to
perhaps get some insight.
Up until November of last year I had two cats. My 19 year old, Murphy,
passed away right before Thanksgiving. He lived with me from kittenhood,

defecation inside and outside the box, high liver enzymes, lymphoma
suspected, horrible traveler).
We are seeing the internist in the a.m.
