Pros and Cons of Maine Coons31 Jan 2005 08:57 GMT18
I'm thinking of purchasing a Maine Coon and would appreciate any tips
on care, grooming, indoors vs outdoors, etc., as well as caveats. The
no.2 on my list is a Bengal, and so I would especially appreciate
comparisons between the two in terms of personality, habits, and the
I came *thisclose* to adopting31 Jan 2005 07:39 GMT1
I keep thinking about this cat I met Saturday.  I really hope she gets
adopted before I come back from my trip, because I'm not sure I can
resist.
I made the mistake of going to PetsMart on adoption day.  :::sigh:::
How's Moses?31 Jan 2005 06:58 GMT1
I get nervous when I don't hear anything.  I'm hoping no news is good news.

Making trip  to Petco and buying science diet for my 2 older cats.
Plan on getting bags of the hairball control and orginal formula.
Just wondering if science diet has any other formulas for seniors that
people would recommend buying?

Canned kitten food?31 Jan 2005 00:51 GMT9
There aren't a lot of canned kitten food out there, or feline
growth formulas. Little Scarlett hasn't thrived as much as her
brother since she has had many set backs with first herpes- or
conjuctivtis-like issues, then the problem after her spay surgery.
possible intestinal parasites?30 Jan 2005 23:32 GMT3
My cat, Pumpkin has been losing weight. Very shaky and weak now. We
took him into the vet about four or five days ago and the xray showed
an enlarged intestine (vet thought it was gas in there). Pumpkin has
been eating more than ever for the past 6 months - yet is has managed
Carpping on the lawn30 Jan 2005 23:17 GMT2
We have a 8 month old British Shorthair. About 3 months ago he stopped using
the litter tray for poo on a regular at basis, only using it for a wee,
which we thought was great. However, we have just been to a corner of our
garden we rarely goto and there was 5 or 6 packages of poo ...
My Cat Comes Home30 Jan 2005 09:50 GMT11
I want to thank everyone for their best wishes regarding my cat.  His blood
work came back with normal readings, and he is being treated for an
infection with an antibiotic (amoxicillin).  The doctor believes it is a
respiratory infection.  He was also prescribed an appetite ...
Cat's urine ph very high30 Jan 2005 06:44 GMT10
Looking for some advice. I just bought chemical strips to monitor my cat's urine at home. He is very prone to urinary blockage and I'm desperately trying to catch problems before they start. I just tested his urine and it is very alkaline (around 8). There are also leukocytes ...
How to Discipline/Train a Kitten30 Jan 2005 02:33 GMT32
Labor day weekend, we took in Eddy, a small kitten that was dumped in
the country. He's been the sweetest kitten, deciding for himself that
he is my infant daughter's pet. He's been neutered, wearing soft claws,
and now about 8 months old.
My Current List of Qs + Comments for the Vet30 Jan 2005 02:32 GMT16
Why was Mingy not put on the s/d diet first?  (And, of course,
Mingy has to eat in order for it to do any good.)
Since the diagnosis of struvite crystals came immediately, does
that imply there was just a microscopic examination of the
blind and deaf cat30 Jan 2005 01:55 GMT21

clearly, she doesn't hear me when i clap my hands over her head (not
*that* close) and her pupils are fixed and hugely dilated.

Hi Friends30 Jan 2005 00:12 GMT5
I haven't been posting, or reading much, and am dreadfully behind. I'm not even
going to try to catch up, so appropriate purrs to everyone.
Our household is a mess. My DH learned of an old aquaintenance who had fallen
into dire straits because of a layoff, a bad car accident and ...
