Please help with v. sick hyperthyroid cat17 Jul 2004 14:18 GMT1
I'm new to this group, and am hoping that someone is on line -- I have
an 18 year old diabetic hyperthyroid cat -- on a DM food and tapazole,
and the last two days on an anabolic steroid the vet thought would
help his recently declining condition that I thought was due to his
Waaah, help me, please.17 Jul 2004 13:22 GMT9
We've now had Marbles 2 weeks.  He's a darling, sweet kitty that purrs all the
time, potties where he's supposed to, doesn't have any horrible habits but...my
original kitties, Scottie and Abbey, are horrified of him.
We kept Marbles confined to two rooms for about 4 days when we ...
Kitten Help Needed Badly!!17 Jul 2004 12:45 GMT21
Help!
About a month ago, I purchased (through Pet Depot) two kittens from the local
Animal Shelter.  These kittens, one male and one female, are from the same
litter and are about three months old now, and seem very healthy.  I have no
Do cat's make friends with other cats?17 Jul 2004 05:24 GMT22
I have had Bilbo for two years now. He is a neutered male of 5-7 years, my
first cat and he came from the local rescue centre. He has total freedom to
come and go as he pleases via his cat flap is a very affectionate cat.
For the last 6 months another cat has been coming in through ...
bathing a kitten17 Jul 2004 04:51 GMT44
i wonder when is the best time to start bathing a cat, and is there
much need for that.  the cats we have at home we don't bathe.  i don't
think it's really possible to bathe Murka and keep your hands.

Why does cat pace while being petted?17 Jul 2004 03:34 GMT13
He approaches me. He WANTS it. I start petting him. He starts purring ....
and then starts walking. Once he is out of reach ... the petting stops. He
looks back at me (what happened?) and stares. I wiggle my fingers to
remind him where the petting hand _is_. He walks back, positions ...
Cheaper alternative to Hill's Prescription Diet Feline K/D?17 Jul 2004 01:05 GMT4
My 18 year old cat was just diagnosed with "typical" kidney
disfunction for his age and was prescribed Hill's Prescription Diet
Feline K/D soft food.  They are charging $1.50 a can (5.5 oz), and I
can't really afford that. I am used to the 3 or 4 for a dollar cans.
"Best by" dates16 Jul 2004 23:37 GMT77
I have several cans of cat food (Innova, Nutro, and Whiskas) that have
been in the cupboard for quite a while (I now feed Wellness).  These are
all well past the "best by" dates.  Should I throw them away or give
them to a shelter?
feeding schedule for kitten16 Jul 2004 03:31 GMT6
hey, y'all,  i've heard we should feed our 4 mo. old kitten 3-4 times
a day.  i am assuming the feedings should be spaced evenly.  3
feedings 8 hours apart or 4 feedings 6 hours apart.  is this correct?
she grew stripes!15 Jul 2004 23:23 GMT3
as Shaina grows bigger, i see darker gray stripes developing on her
fur. she has this lighter gray underfur and slightly longer darker
gray fur on her back and now the stripes.  examining the fur is met
with such screams that you'd think i'm trying to pluck it out!  i
And all hell finally broke loose.....15 Jul 2004 22:47 GMT22
Michael let Cassie cat outside yesterday evening. I was in Indianapolis and
not much help in this situation. Cassie normally goes about her business and
comes back in later without incident. This time however she got into a major
fight with the father of Sammy's babies who lives ...
My FriendlyFence enclosure is installed!!15 Jul 2004 22:39 GMT18
I've finally gotten the cat enclosure I bought from Benner's Gardens put
up. I had the week of the 4th off, so I used it to introduce the cats to
it and make sure I could trust it to keep them enclosed.
I was pretty sure I wasn't going to have any problems, as it has been
How Do Cat Shelters Do It?15 Jul 2004 20:10 GMT10
How do cat shelters (or other people with multiple cats) handle it when two cats
don't get along?
Some of you may remember my previous posts regarding the saga of Old Cat and New
Cat, two cats who just can't seem to get along. For those who don't, Old Cat is
Waltham/Royal Canin Renal15 Jul 2004 18:06 GMT6
Argh!  I'm so annoyed.
Kami has rejected all of the renal diets.  It's not that she doesn't like
them, she just gets frustrated because she licks her food flat to the bowl
or plate.  She's dainty.  This is why we've always gotten chunk food.  You
Scratching furniture15 Jul 2004 12:05 GMT13
I know this subject has probably been covered but I scrolled back thru
1500 posts and couldn't find it.
When I first got my cat he'd scratch the couch.  I got him a scratching
post and got him to use it.  Problem is he kept growing and growing.
