| Cats and boosters | 19 Jul 2004 19:59 GMT | 1 |
My 7 year old indoor cat has never had a booster and I want to take her for her first check up in two years. I'm a little reluctant to start with the boosters, but I'm also worried that just taking her to the vet can expose her to germs and bacteria she has no resistance for.

I have a flea infestation in my home and on my two babies. One is a 13 yr-old Himalayan/Siamese mix, the other is a 3 yr-old calico mix. Which is better, Frontline Plus or Advantage? And why? All comments and opinions are welcome.

| How do I keep the cat off the bed? | 19 Jul 2004 19:38 GMT | 7 |
I was able to train the cat to use a scratching post (and not my furniture) in about 2 days with a good ole squirt bottle. But it's not working for this. She jumps on the bed when I'm sleeping. She wakes me up when she jumps on, and she wakes me up when

| What are these little crawly things? | 19 Jul 2004 17:09 GMT | 2 |
Yesterday when Dakota arose from his nap, there was a little tiny wiggly thing where he had been lying. It was black, and looked like it may have multiple legs, similar to a centipede. It slithered around, like a miniature snake. I found two of these once before, after he ...

| another reason not to leave your pets home alone... | 19 Jul 2004 16:52 GMT | 11 |
Last week a friend who lives in Ann Arbor mentioned a thunderstorm in an e-mail to me. She said there was a loud crack and it sounded as though a gun had gone off. Turns out, a house a street up from her caught fire (it was hit by lightening). The owners were on vacation and ...

| How many hairballs can two cats cough up? | 19 Jul 2004 04:00 GMT | 5 |
A couple of weeks ago, Otto threw up his food a few times and I knew he was working on a hairball. Last week, when I stumbled into the kitchen one morning I stepped in a fresh pile of hairball on the mat in front of the sink. Later, I noticed another one in the cat carrier that's ...

| Living a Seinfeld Episode | 19 Jul 2004 01:29 GMT | 4 |
Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode where Kramer put a screen door on his apartment and then lawn chairs, a barbecue, and other stuff out in the hall so he could be living the suburban life? That's what we're doing. We now have a very classy, flimsy screen door where

I have a black cat nearly a year old. He was weaned by his mom befor I got him, and I always held him while doing things. The past few months though, he has this weird habit of licking my nose. He won't just lick once or twice- if I don't stop him, he will almost lick a ...

| Update on 2 kitty's living over my fence. | 18 Jul 2004 21:01 GMT | 4 |
I wrote a couple of weeks ago for advice on handling a kitten and it's mother living over my fence. Well, we invited the kitten, he's about 12 - 16 weeks old, into the house a few nights ago. I got an animal advocacy group to donate some money toward his neuter. We took him to ...

Okay, I know I'm prattling - but this is therapy for me because of how stressful this dang process is. Luckily there are killfiles.. =) Anyway, Henry (new cat) has developed an irritating habit of waking up around 4AM to play. In our room. Which is closed. It's just like

| Eating flies - Can they hurt my kitty? | 18 Jul 2004 04:45 GMT | 9 |
Lynxie has taken on the habit of chasing these little flies that manage to get inside. They're smaller than houseflies, and are slow and easy to catch, so he has a ball chasing them. I recently found out that he's actually eating them. I'm just wondering

| Success Story | 17 Jul 2004 18:10 GMT | 2 |
Since I've recently arrived here in order to seek help with our new cat, I thought I'd share a short happy ending story.. =) At one point, we had four cats. Howard the adopted stray, Roy the adopted "unwanted" cat, Abbey the queen and Tiger the farm cat.
