weird discharge from eyes14 Dec 2003 02:46 GMT3
OK, here's something I'm slightly worried about.
Possibly owing to the fact that we're a little late on his shots, one of
our mongrel boys has an unusual discharge - but in this case it appears to
be slightly tinged with red.
Is De-clawing a US thing?13 Dec 2003 21:36 GMT140
I was just wondering but is de-clawing cats particular to the US?  I live in
the UK and until I subscribed to this newsgroup, I didn't even know that you
COULD have your cat de-clawed!  Needless to say, I am totally against the
idea but I have never heard of anyone here who has ever ...
Question about some sort of "lump"13 Dec 2003 19:38 GMT5
Hi. My cat, Tipper will be 9 in March. About a year ago I noticed
something growing from his neck - upper chest area. I was petting him
under the chin one day and I noticed something, and I thought it was
just hair tangled up. Then it kept getting bigger, it was sort of

Upper Respiratory Infections13 Dec 2003 17:04 GMT11
Hi.  *waves, takes cautious step into the cyberspace of the newsgroup*
I'm writing because I was wondering if people could share their
experiences with their cats having gone through upper respiratory
infections, hopefully with an emphasis on positive experiences.
12-10 update: Benny's eye13 Dec 2003 02:14 GMT4
Benny, the cat with the cloudy eye, went back to the opthamalogist
today for a checkup. The pressure in his eye has stabilized and we can
reduce the frequency of the drops from one per day to every other day,
and then (in a month) to twice per week. He gets another check in
Just got the bad news: Feline Leukemia13 Dec 2003 01:00 GMT20
I took home a stray from my job last Thursday.  He was underweight and
did not eat or drink much after we brought him home.  He also vomited
several times and slept a lot . We took him to the vet today and a
blood test was taken.  Not more than a hour later the vet's office
New Cat Meowing /Crying13 Dec 2003 00:38 GMT9
About three days ago I got a cat from a local animal charity. She is about
14 months old and has been spayed.
She is a really friendly cat and will follow you around and sit on your lap,
but she continually disappears into another room starts meowing loudly. I
Peeing all over the place12 Dec 2003 22:41 GMT13
Tiggy's not happy. She has peed in the bedroom, living room, bathroom and
outside her box in the kitchen. She just went to the vet last week and
doesn't have a medical problem other than the arthritis and just being old
and crotchety. We have her on Cosequin and it seems to be ...

I ahve 2 questions, I have a cat that I have adopted, but not from an

feeding needs for an ex stray12 Dec 2003 09:59 GMT6
I couldn't find any FAQ's so I hope this is not repeating old stuff but I
need advice.
Due to where I live, next to some abandoned ground and green space in an
inner city area, I seem to have a steady stream of strays and feral cats
Deafening vocalizing12 Dec 2003 06:25 GMT13
Having posted the original story of the rescue of this poor old feral guy
(took a year and a half to trap), he has been completely vetted, neutered
and blood work is exceptional. He has been living under bed for a week and
yesterday was coaxed out for a pet for the first time. All ...

Feral cat refuses to eat12 Dec 2003 03:37 GMT20
Hi --- I recently trapped 2 young feral male cats. The smaller one
amazingly started purring when I petted him (even though he'd never
let anyone around here touch him before). He's now eating fine and
acting affectionate toward me.
another FeLV testing question12 Dec 2003 00:53 GMT3
I recently rescued a kitten estimated at 6 months old. She has been spayed,
vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV (snap test). My concern is that
if she has been recently exposed, it could be too early for an accurate
test. She has been isolated from my other kitties in a ...
