is this considered animal cruelty?13 Oct 2003 17:32 GMT19
I often go to the house of my friend where there are a lot of stray
cats. The super, or handyman of the building often sets up cages to
trap these stray cats and I think there is poison inside. He leaves
the cats locked inside the cages for 2 to 3 days after they ingested
Adoption of an other Cat13 Oct 2003 13:45 GMT2
I have a Norwegian Forest cat, age 7 and neutered - good tempered animal
with a mind of its own at times!!!  I now have the opportunity to adopt a
pure bred Main Coon, also 7 and neutered.  My dilemma is, will my cat accept
this new comer; I do not want to traumatize my cat.  Has ...
Distilled water and cats12 Oct 2003 16:57 GMT18
Can anyone tell me if distilled water is good or bad for cats?  I just
bought a Drinkwell fountain.  We have very hard well water.  We also have a
water softener with one faucet that bypasses the softening process.  Which
water is better for my cat...the softened water, the ...
Two cats - no poops12 Oct 2003 16:56 GMT3
Because of the dental, Amber has been on Clavamox since last Sunday.  To
prevent diarrhea,  I have been adding acidophilus powder to the canned
food.  They keep switching food dishes so Tiger was getting the
acidophilus too.  For several days now I have not seen any poops in the
Cat show in NYC this weekend12 Oct 2003 14:57 GMT10
I might go since it's supposed to rain on Sunday and wipe out the
planned bike trip. It's at Madison Square Garden. No TV though. Costs
$13 to get in with the $2 off coupon. $8 if a senior (person, not
cat). There are supposed to be free samples of food. Maybe some neat
turd hockey?12 Oct 2003 04:17 GMT7
my two cats have a facination with playing with their turds
I've caught them pulling them out of their litter box. I've tried cleaning
the box more often and it doesn't matter if there's just one in there
they'll play with it. What should I do? I don't want to discipline them to
Cat has one pupil dilated11 Oct 2003 22:19 GMT7
The vet found an ulcer on my cat's left eye. He gave me 3 ointments for it
(atropine, trifluridine, and triple antibiotic). Since I started applying the
meds, the eye's pupil has been dilated all day. Is this normal, or should I
take the cat back to the vet?
wet or dry for kittens11 Oct 2003 20:18 GMT7
A newly adopted four month old kitten......loves table scraps but
doesn't  like wet or dry even if mixed together.  Is it worth pushing
the dry hoping he will eventually buckle?
Cats and portable heaters - recommendations?11 Oct 2003 20:07 GMT13
I was thinking of purchasing a Delonghi oil filled sealed radiator type model
but I'm worried about my pet getting burned since she likes to run around the
house on occasion.    Some reviews on Amazon.com say that there is a danger
of children and pets getting burned yet others ...
Why the tiger almost killed Roy.11 Oct 2003 18:50 GMT68
I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of Siegfried & Roy and their
tigers. In case you haven't heard, one of the tigers finally mauled
their "trainer" Roy.
(BTW, I am very against "training" wild animals to perform for human
spraying turning into peeing11 Oct 2003 17:10 GMT2
Over the past few months one of my male cats, Murdoc (neutered) has been
spraying in the house more than usual and in the last few weeks it's
turned into a full scale pee.   He starts to spray and then it seems as
if he can't stop and it turns into a pee.
Outside pet warmer?11 Oct 2003 16:43 GMT3
My cat Sully had a bad RTA about a year ago now, and we were told when we
got him from the RSPCA that in his older days and during winter (or damp
days) that he might feel his joints aching more than when it's nice and warm
(as he'll probably end up with arthritis when he's older).
My cat Bear needs help11 Oct 2003 08:22 GMT9
Bear is a 2 yr old black long hair neutered male.  He has started
staying out at night lately. I saw him Sat morn and he didn't come home
till Mon afternoon.  He doesn't feel well and last night I saw him
straining to poop but no resuts and no sign this morning.  I will take
need advice for sick cat11 Oct 2003 08:14 GMT5
My mothers cat, Hobbs, was diagnosed yesterday with this. The biggest piece
of advice is to make sure he eats enough. He is eating a little bit but not
much. She is trying to give hime whatever he wants.
What are some good ideas or tricks or whatever to encourage him to eat more?
Will this work to get rid of fleas?11 Oct 2003 04:27 GMT3
I found some flea drops at a store that only contain the IGR Precor
(methoprene). So they're only good for preventing the eggs from
maturing for up to three months. If I use that on my indoor only cats
and brush them with a flea comb at least once a day, will that be a
