UPDATE:  Unexplained weight loss in 8.5 yr old male cat01 Nov 2003 00:13 GMT21
I took my cat for an ultrasound this morning and unfortunately, it
didn't come back with good results that I was SO optimistically
looking forward to receiving. Apparently, he has lumps and/or masses
spreading throughout his abdomen. On the mezzentary (sp?)? The doctor
Cat with Alergies?01 Nov 2003 00:05 GMT4
My friend's cat (male, healthy & not overweight)has been diagnosed with (the
first visit to the Vet's)a 'sorta' cold and that the cat was probably
fighting it off on its own so no drugs advised.  Two weeks later (2nd visit
to same vet)antibiotics were administered as symptoms - ...
New Cat - Strange Behaviour01 Nov 2003 00:03 GMT7
I have just adopted an (approx) 2 year old cat called Lily from my local
Cat's Protection League shelter.  I've had her for a week now and am
becaming increasingly worried about her behavior.  It seems that everytime
she eats anything, immediately afterwards she becomes absolutely
'dental diet' products31 Oct 2003 22:13 GMT6
A vet recently recommended that I get food for my cats marketed as having
teeth-cleaning properties. She mentioned that these foods have an enzyme in
them that breaks down the plaque on their teeth.
The fact that they'll only eat regular Friskies aside, I  tried giving them
Cat Grass growing31 Oct 2003 19:31 GMT8
For growing cat grasses for kitties to eat, the small little pots I've
tried are not working that well.  Some tip over when the cat is
nibbling.  Others grow only a small amount -- the grass doesn't last
long.  Sometimes it yellows.   Has anyone successfully planted a large
stool pasage problem?31 Oct 2003 17:05 GMT3
I just recently discovered a piece of stool sticking out of my cat's butt.
It's like she has trouble passing or something? So we tried to remove the
protuding part. The outermost was stool and then there was what looks like
alot of furr wrapped around what looks potentially like ...
Poor Amber31 Oct 2003 13:18 GMT1
I discovered a lump on Amber's tail (near the base) last week -so- off
to the vet again.  Last night she had a cyst removed.  She is home now
but not too happy.  The base of her tail is shaved on one side and she
appears to be a bit uncomfortable when she sits down.
Cat "beds"31 Oct 2003 13:13 GMT6
Both of my cats have decided that they prefer to sleep on newspapers.  I
spread the papers out on the couch and love seat and that's what they
like  - the messier the better!  It's a good thing I am not a neat
freak.

Kato eating again31 Oct 2003 04:23 GMT5
The vet prescribed an antihistamine called cyproheptadine for Kato and
she responded immediately by eating a sizable amount of kibble and
tuna and some juice from a couple of cans of tuna. I don't know why an
antihistamine stimulates appetite in cats but at this point I don't
Dr. Jekyll cat is Mr. Hyde at the vet31 Oct 2003 02:44 GMT20
This has happened twice. The cat in question is the only pet in the
household. She is very docile and playful (mixed breed). She loves new
people or visitors and sidles up to them and plays with them.
Absolutely very social. Not declawed but does not scratch in attack,
Our cats keep fighting....31 Oct 2003 01:35 GMT2
We (Me and the wife) have 2 cats, we got Fudge (the oldest, 2 and a
half years old) when she was a kitten, in February of this year we
decided to get another cat to keep Fudge company while we were at
work.
Cat meowing and me moving...help!30 Oct 2003 23:43 GMT10
My wonderful cat is beginning to worry me.  I am in the process of
selling my house.  I am planning to relocate, "downgrade" and purchase
outright.  However, for the time being, I was planning on leasing for
the next 6 months to finish up my assignment in the city, and my cat
Peewee Update - again!30 Oct 2003 15:28 GMT4
This poor cat.
This week he was feeling poorly again - and was trying to poop but
couldn't - all day Sunday.  I nursed him and fed him all kinds of
things to help lubricate him, and he passed yet *another* hard furball
Petcare Pet Insurance - negative experience30 Oct 2003 13:52 GMT2
There have been several threads regarding Pet Insurance and whether it
is worth it to purchase or not.  I have recently had a very negative
experience with PetCare Pet Insurance (petcareinsurace.com).  I
purchased the senior plan for my Pomeranian and paid the monthly
