HELP!  No bowel movement in 60 hours.16 Sep 2003 15:36 GMT7
My cat was having a bad gas problem, so (at the suggestion of a holistic vet) I
started him on a diet of chicken breast and plain yogurt.  He loves the diet,
the gas has stopped, but he hasn't had a bowel movement in 60 hours.  Should I
not yet worry?  Any easy cat laxatives?  HELP!
Five Is A Holy Terror!16 Sep 2003 14:17 GMT5
I'm no newcomer to cat ownership (being owned by a cat, that is) and have
only spent two years of my life without a one.  Recently we took in an
abandoned 4 week old female kitten and like every other kitten I've raised,
I lavished Five with love, affection, attention, lots of lap ...
one pissed off cat16 Sep 2003 12:08 GMT5
Harriet, one of two cats at my job (bookstore) has been attacking my
co-workers all day.  I got to work at 11:00am and she was fine.  The
manager, who got here at 10am, said she was fine when she got in, too.
During the early afternoon Harriet came downstairs (offices are in the
Giving cat medicine16 Sep 2003 08:48 GMT8
My cat was just put on heart medication and I attempted to give it to
her this morning.  She is not big on treats so putting it in cheese or
bologna wouldn't work and she spit it out when I tried to pill her.  I
really stressed her out which is something the vet said shouldn't be
5 y.o. female getting along with 5 m.o. female - complications?16 Sep 2003 02:40 GMT13
First off - thanks for the info about the wet cat food (in the thread
"Best wet food for cystitis"), we've got both our cats (only one has
cystitis) on Science Diet now (the kitten won't eat the flavor of kitten
Science Diet that we got, so we're feeding her the Adult 'til we can ...
Cats & Yogurt16 Sep 2003 01:43 GMT7
Anyone else besides me have a cat that likes yogurt.  I was enjoying
my yogurt tonight and my 'child' tried to get up in my lap and take it
away from me !!  I put a little on the tip of my finger and she lapped
it right up !!!
Transitioning stubborn cat from dry food to wet16 Sep 2003 01:41 GMT5
Bonnie, the feral, is more finicky an eater than Shadow is if that is
possible.  Her early days here proved that she needed whatever food
she would eat, dry or canned.  She ate kitten food (she was ~4-5
months old back in May) and was very skinny and sickly.  She's very
Where do you live?15 Sep 2003 23:28 GMT2
There's a whole load of stuff on the internet about this and I too was in
the same dilemma and was given very incorrect, biased and basically ignorant
information. I live in the UK, outer London (the suburbs, for the US
readers) and there aren't many natural predators out there.
pee on carpet in closet15 Sep 2003 23:06 GMT9
We just moved to a new house and I've decided to keep my orange tabby inside
because the street is busier and he's been less friendly to cats visiting
the yard lately, he got in a really bad fight at our old place!
I like to leave the door open (with the screen door shut) so that ...

My question is, what are you all so frightened of that you have taken
such a defensive stand?  You all seemed concerned that I am making all
kinds of money from my books and television radio shows. You insinuate
I was new here but....15 Sep 2003 18:54 GMT27
And am totally amazed at how both IBen, Cat Protector and some others need a
good old fashioned spanking.  Never have I heard children bicker so much as I
have here.
In the two days I have been reading I have learned a lot. I figure since I will
Silly question15 Sep 2003 18:14 GMT2
Why does my 4 m/o "announce it" when he has to use the litter box?
He'll wander a bit, trill, trill, trill.......  then head for the box
and start scratching.
He trills fairly frequently, actually.  Not *just* for litterbox
Litter boxes that you don't have to manually Scoop?15 Sep 2003 16:09 GMT5
Howdy,
I'm looking for a simple solution to cleaning out our litter boxes that doesn't involve me having to
use the scoop all the tiem btu something that can just filter the whole box at once.
I've seen some items like these Litter Sifting Liners:
Another sucky update :*(15 Sep 2003 13:53 GMT8
For those following our saga...
Peewee is doing poorly.  He was at the vet all day Fri PM and
yesterday.  Yesterday he ate some, and seemed perkier by 5PM last
night.   Of course, since these things happen at the worst possible
Flagyl and Loss of Appetite15 Sep 2003 01:14 GMT8
My vet prescribed Flagyl for my cat who is showing signs of IBD.  He wanted
to try that out before going to prednisone.  It seems to me that since
Sebastian has been on Flagyl his appetite has decreased.  He shows interest
in food then only eats a little.  His appetite was better ...
