HELP!!!  OT and desperate25 Nov 2007 22:36 GMT21
Maybe not fully OT, as it involves the comfort of the owners.  Due to
financial poblems, we got behind on our mortgage.  We were in the
wrong, but couldn't help it.  The VA housing dpartment was fantastic
in helping us re-do the mortgage on the house.
Shmogg's ashes25 Nov 2007 22:19 GMT17
The RSPCA did a lovely job. This afternoon I picked up a small blue box from
the vet, tastefully decorated, and properly sealed.
Shmogg is home for good, now, even though I'm not sure exactly where his
ashes will be stored permanantly.
Menu ideas?  OT25 Nov 2007 19:59 GMT9
A friend and his wife from another newsgroup will be in my area in a couple
of weeks, and we have agreed to meet for a meal.  I had originally thought
about going out, but after several weeks on the road, I'm sure they'd prefer
a home-cooked meal.  I've gotten out of the habit of ...
She does love a fire :)25 Nov 2007 19:56 GMT6
It's nice and chilly outside (finally!).  I've got a nice fire burning in
the fireplace.  For a while there was a nice sunbeam streaming through the
window, across the front of the fireplace, too.  Persia made herself quite
at home on a pillow in the sun in front of the fire :)

Help! Hateful apartment manager!25 Nov 2007 17:41 GMT48
As if the flood from above wasn't enough.
Senyah got a phone call today from the office telling her that we were
only allowed two cats and that we had to put the extra outside right
now.
Francis the masseur25 Nov 2007 15:21 GMT4
I did a good long bike ride of 60+ miles today. Frosty start. Cold,
headwind, rain, sleety rain, more headwind, more cold, more rain...
My thighs ache. A lot.
Francis has decided to massage my thighs. Problme is, I do not appreciate
"Baby" Strikes Back!25 Nov 2007 15:17 GMT8
Let me set the scene.  I am lounging on my daybed, and Dante is perched on
the air cleaner near the head of the bed.  I turn around and look at him
through the wrought iron frame, and begin singing to him.  I sing to him "I
Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby."

What I'm thankful for25 Nov 2007 11:40 GMT10
I do kinda love Thanksgiving Day. It's not a custom I grew up with, but
I've celebrated it now for about 12 years. I love that it is an
all-inclusive (non-religious) holiday, where nobody gets presents
(though there's lots of great sales tomorrow, but that's common for
Duffy finds Holly25 Nov 2007 11:14 GMT18
I opened a closet door to replace the leaf of a table I had used for dinner
awhile ago.  A short time later, I noticed Duffy sitting in front of the
closet door and staring intently at it.  I couldn't figure out why he was so
interested, but I opened the door -- and out marched ...
Third Update: current crisis25 Nov 2007 04:41 GMT10
WOOHOO! We have the power back on!
But the maintenance guy gave me more info on what happed:
The slow trickle of water into plugged sinks was just the least of it. It
seems the neighbor also pulled the hot water line out from under one sink,
