KFC has improved!30 Sep 2007 23:14 GMT21
Firstly, thank you to everyone who has posted purrs and prayers for her and
those who don't have time to say so but do it anyway (I am often in this
category myself.)
Secondly, here is the update I promised "after the weekend."  No improvement
TNR Question30 Sep 2007 23:11 GMT18
I know that it is common practice to notch the ear of a TNR cat but
I'm not sure what the notch looks like.  Barnabus has a very small V-
shaped notch in his right ear.  As most of you know he was a stray
that we took in and he was neutered when we found him.  He never
Get off my head!!30 Sep 2007 23:03 GMT3
Most of you know I have trouble sleeping soundly under the best of
circumstances.  Last night I must have been exhausted because I fell asleep
on the sofa.  Persia was snuggled next to me and it's nice to sleep with her
curled into me.
Bandit brought me a birdie :(  Advice needed30 Sep 2007 23:00 GMT5
My mighty hunter (not, his catches are only an annual event at most) has
just brought me a present, a lady chaffinch, like this:

Luckily he hasn't seemed to hurt it: he brought it in with his mouth firmly
My Yuletide plan....30 Sep 2007 22:58 GMT10
As I mentioned in a prior post, I need to go on the receive only list
this year.  However, I have a diabolical master plan cooking up.
Since I live in Canada, it costs me 93 cents for every letter I mail
to the States.  That adds up on a list as big as RPCA, when I'm paying
Archer Update30 Sep 2007 22:20 GMT7
Dr. French called a little while ago.  He said the break looked "stable" and
the cast looked fine.  He also said the fecal he did looked fine, but he's
going to give me some medicine for giardia for both Archer and Ozzy since
they were both having loose stools (even before Archer ...
New Fish in the Tank30 Sep 2007 22:11 GMT10
Archer is totally fascinated with the fish in our 50 gallon aquarium (we put
the new cat tree next to it, in front of the window, so they can watch kitty
TV all day while Ben and I are at work).  He'll sit on the floor in front of
it and jump up at the front glass trying to catch ...
The new chair30 Sep 2007 22:09 GMT5
I bought a new chair for my office. It's a nice one, with all the
features for "intensive use". On the side of the box, it said
"assembly required". I did not expect to have to assemble everyting...
Well, I opened the box, and Dulce Mae immediately climbed in while I
News of Krista in GA30 Sep 2007 21:48 GMT3
I've been corrponding with Krista on and off (she seems to be very busy
with work and doesn't even lurk here any more), and she gave me
permission to post some snippets from her e-mails as an update for
anyone who remembers her. I thought some of you might like to hear from her.
chester the mystery cat30 Sep 2007 21:44 GMT16
I am not even sure if I posted about how we got Chester but we have had him
for a little over a year now and I am still just mystified as to how he
ended up at animal control.
He was rescued from animal control on his last day to live there.  He had a

For the kitten who isn't eating, try this (your friend may need to use an
eye dropper):
High Calcium Chicken Broth
Nourishing and easy to digest, it is excellent for the sick, nursing
What is it with some people?! (Do not read if you are of a sensitive disposition)30 Sep 2007 20:19 GMT12
I have many times mentioned Jim the Gardener (so called in my twisted
mind to distingush him from Jim my Brother) a long term drinking crony
and devoted slave of Benj and Little Molly (You might remember the
poor little kitten spent a few months being passed round but as soon
Smudge has a weird lump30 Sep 2007 20:02 GMT22
Last night when I got home, I picked up Smudge and felt an odd
lump on her underside. It's the size of a very large grape, and
about the same shape as a grape. It feels like a swollen gland
or something like that. It's possibly near her front nipple, or
Tyche Visits the Neighbour30 Sep 2007 06:14 GMT3
As we all know, Tyche is not a good kitten but here is a new twist.
Our new apartment's front door tends to go ajar, then shut. WHen it is
ajar, a paw can be used to open it.  Tyche likes to get out and run up
and down the hallway.
Vino needs purrs30 Sep 2007 05:52 GMT49
Last night Vino was out in the back yard when I heard cat-fight sounds.
I ran out and brought him inside, no signs of the intruder.
Vino kept hissing at me whenever I picked him up, very strange for him.
I checked all over his back for injuries but found none.
