Purrs for My Mom...03 Nov 2006 23:09 GMT28
...who is having knee replacement surgery on Thursday.
I know knee replacements are supposed to be worse than hip
replacements, as far as pain and recovery goes, but this can only be a
relief - that knee is arthritic, bone-on-bone, and has spurs on both

Hi Cookie!03 Nov 2006 21:29 GMT24
Mom came in yesterday, and Dante did his usual
bouncing-around-the-house performance to greet her.  "Hi Cookie!" she
said to him.  I said  "Mom, you've been calling him that lately-- is
that a new nickname?"  My mom, as some of you may have realized, is a

Semi OT: Amazing Photo Album03 Nov 2006 08:50 GMT4
This British dude is a great photographer. An album with over a thousand of
his pics of wild birds, flowers, cats, dogs and other subjects is worth
spending some time to explore at http://www.fotothing.com/mmmstreaker/
using her thumb02 Nov 2006 22:13 GMT3
Last week we had twice baked potatoes that come in a oval  cardboard type
container. When we were done we put them down on the floor for the cats to
check out.   I see Abby with her "thumb" on the edge of the container
holding it still. She didn't have any other part of her paw ...
No Sieglinde kittens, but pictures02 Nov 2006 22:04 GMT12
I took Sieglinde to the vet today: she is not pregnant and maybe never
was.  She has, however, gained weight - she's now over nine pounds.
I updated the 'red tabbies' page with Sunday's pictures: "Red tabby
kitten pictures" link at <http://users.wildblue.net/daviste/>.  At the

Oh no, not again02 Nov 2006 21:07 GMT16
Trouble has an overactive thyroid now.
I took him to the vet on Saturday.  I'd been thinking for a while that
he didn't seem quite right.  Nothing major, just a growing realisation
that he's behaving very much like Scaredycat did before we realised she
Finally found what I was looking for02 Nov 2006 20:53 GMT13
Since Frank died, and Baha gave me the tip about her friend who carried
a vial of his mother's ashes around his neck, I've been searching for a
suitable vessel to put the remains of Frank's ashes in (I saved a little
bit that I didn't scatter on the island). I finally found it, ...

This is the official announcement for the 2006 rpca Holiday Card Exchange.

Joanie02 Nov 2006 01:17 GMT12
I know  this isn't much of  a memorial, but I  think it's probably
the closest thing to permanent I'll be able to manage.
My friend, Joanie, died this evening,  in my arms, and by the hand
of a veterinarian, Dr. Ivanna Hummel-Bodak, who also loved her.

Just wanted to wish you a very happy day.
