| Kipling poem - "The Power of the Dog" | 15 Oct 2006 02:22 GMT | 2 |
A friend of mine has an elderly dog who had to have a blood transfusion today, after having developed anemia as a side-effect of an immunization. The dog is also blind, and has diabetes. I suspect that she won't be around much longer. I sent him this poem by Rudyard

| A perfect circle | 15 Oct 2006 00:53 GMT | 8 |
In the middle of the night, leg cramps struck and I had to get up and walk them out. Eventually the muscles stopped trying to turn themselves into pretzels, and after a good fortyfive minutes of hallway pacing, I could finally go back to

| PING: New Yorkers (Brrrr!) | 14 Oct 2006 23:09 GMT | 12 |
I've been reading this morning about the awful weather up there. Doesn't Baha live pretty much where the worst of it is? Two feet of snow, freezing temperatures and downed power lines sounds very dangerous. I hope everyone is okay, and that it really isn't as bad as

| NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN | 14 Oct 2006 06:11 GMT | 4 |
Stinky has a habit of lying half-on and half-off his chosen surfaces-- for example, he likes to lounge very near the edge of the daybed, half hanging off, at least one paw dangling down. Well, right now, I am gingerly typing this around him. There is a sunny spot on my computer

| [OT-sorta] Lesson learned | 13 Oct 2006 23:26 GMT | 8 |
Well, I finally got it together to connect up my computer and stereo so that I could make digital recordings of my cassette tapes. This past week I've been making MP3s from my old favorites on tape, some of which I haven't listened to in over ten years - fun!

| Teddy's follies | 13 Oct 2006 21:00 GMT | 2 |
I was in the bathroom getting ready for work this morning and Teddy was on the counter rubbing up against everthing and purring up a storm. She was checking out the kleenex box reaching in and pulling out the kleenex (it is the type with the celophane around the opening). I ...

| Teasing Little Boy | 13 Oct 2006 15:44 GMT | 3 |
I discovered, quite by accident, that Little Boy likes the smell of peppermint. So every now and then, I grab a peppermint from the candy jar, put it I my mouth, and sit down next to Little Boy. His eyes get wide, he tries to force his nose into my mouth and

| Ping Victor: Aquarium Lighting | 13 Oct 2006 15:12 GMT | 2 |
Sorry for the OT gang, but I know Victor hangs out here. Victor, How much light do you have over your 110 now; still 4*65? I'm running 2*96 on my 55 and I plan to go to a 90 soon, so I want to upgrade the lighting. I'm seriously considering Halide/PC combos from Jebo. I was

| Oh, you mean this isn't for US? | 13 Oct 2006 14:31 GMT | 6 |
Yesterday, I received two new clothing items I'd ordered from Land's End--a corduroy jacket and a pair of pants. I hung up the pants, but forgot to hang up the jacket right away. After closing my laptop and getting ready for bed, I find both my girls curled up on the jacket

| Plane Crash Update | 13 Oct 2006 12:42 GMT | 9 |
Hi everyone. Yes, when you first hear it, it's a great shock. But we are hearing everywhere now that there is no evidence that this was a terrorist attack of any kind. A small private plane flew into a high rise building on the Upper East

| Guard Cats | 13 Oct 2006 09:51 GMT | 16 |
I've had the privilege of being owned by a lot of cats in my life, and they all had and have their own wonderful unique personalities. But *never* before have I had a cat who hangs out in the front bay window, and then if a truck pulls up near our house, or a person walks
