Surprising the cats05 Jul 2006 02:42 GMT4
There must be something in the air.
Little Boy has been having trouble keeping his spots. First of all,
Senyah has a walker, with a drop-down plastic seat. This is a favorite
of all the cats, especially Little Boy. But Little Boy has some...

This week will mark 15 years since I took my darling boy off the
subway tracks and brought him home.

This afternoon the felines are off to their favourite holiday home for a few
days. The humans are off to France (Rennes) for a few days, leaving this
evening.
Our hotel is actually on the route of the Tour de France, apparently :-)
Click site for rescued animal food.04 Jul 2006 21:08 GMT1
Hey all,
Go to this site,  theanimalrescuesite.com. They have a link that you click once each day and they will donate .6 bowls of food to rescue animals. You don't have to buy anything, but check out the catitude t-shirt, it is so cute and so true. It shows a cat pushing a plant ...
They're just like kids...04 Jul 2006 20:29 GMT9
I left a glass of Diet Dr Pepper on the table and went to turn on the
computer.
There was this thunking noise and...
We're not talking about a little spill here.  We're talking about Dr.
** SMUDGE IS HOME!!! **04 Jul 2006 18:46 GMT48
I found her today!!!
She was trapped in a neighbor's garage. I can't tell whether she was
there the whole week or not. I was about to get in my car a few hours
ago, when I heard a cat yowling. It didn't actually sound like her,
Link between dry food and kidney disease?04 Jul 2006 03:50 GMT33
A friend just told me that a veterinarian she knows said that the reason
domestic cats so often get kidney disease is because they're fed dry food,
and their bodies didn't evolve to deal with so much non-meat in their
diet.
We have lift-off!04 Jul 2006 01:51 GMT6
Mrs Robin has suucessfully raised two chicks up to fledgling age. The chicks
went this morning. Two chicks to fledgling size from three eggs, laid in a
nest in open view at my waist height is not bad going.
At least now I can mow the lawn. And the felines will be pleased I'm not
Abelard is on the mend03 Jul 2006 22:43 GMT13
I think he's gonna be OK. He's quit vomiting for the most part, and is very
interested in food again. It's been a major pain getting the pills into him.
Some cats are easy to pill but with Abelard it's pure hell, and then he's
afraid of me for a while afterwards, and seems to ...
Chester revelation03 Jul 2006 22:33 GMT4
A post from Fil a while ago got me thinking about welcoming Chester into the
family and it occured to me that I hadn't actually formally welcomed him.
It's been more of a pay-attention-to-Chester-thing-when-Otis-isn't-looking.
... but I hadn't really realized that I was doing ...
Moths and (OT) donuts03 Jul 2006 22:30 GMT4
One benefit of having cats is that ability to catch moths and other
creepies. Memphis is very good at swiping and proves he can jump very
quickly. Phoenix pounces, catching with both paws. It can be highly
entertaining to watch. I let Memphis go out into the garden in the

I've uploaded some pics onto my webshots page of Spock and Persephone
enjoying the wood heater this evening (remembering that its mid-winter
in the southern hemisphere).  The ones of Persephone in her stick nest
and of her sitting comfortably on my back make me giggle.  The one of
cat-vacuuming pin03 Jul 2006 22:03 GMT12
A while back, we had a discussion in this group of the pins that the
regular denizens of rec.arts.sf.composition had made, so that we would
recognize a fellow rasfc person if we met face-to-face.  That
newsgroup is for discussion of writing speculative fiction (science
Checking In03 Jul 2006 22:00 GMT35
I know I'll never get caught up again just being able to read the group on
weekends (around doing my chores) - so purrs for everyone who needs them.
Can someone tell me if Smudge got home?
Unfortunately, I have more bad news here.
