Offline for a bit29 Apr 2006 21:29 GMT13
It looks like the move to St. Louis will run over the weekend, so I'll
be shutting down computers by mid-day today, taking a couple of days to
drive, and then setting things up again. I'm not sure if the local
cable provider has newsgroups, but I should be back early next week.

For the last few days I've been going out to Shadow (visitor cat) and
sitting with him for a while, I still haven't attempted to touch him. Today,
for the first time, he fell asleep while I was near him so the first sound
I've ever heard from him is, snoring. <g>

I met Vino!29 Apr 2006 13:30 GMT14
I met his royal orangeness! Britta took me with her to visit him in the
quarantine station just south of Purrth, where he's staying for another
2 weeks yet.
He is of course very handsome, and his coat is a very unusual pretty

The youngest kitty in my house is also the most sought after playmate of the
other cats - so much that maybe I ought to be worried that they will wear
her out.
It's a close call but I'd have to say Eli gets the largest share of her
Free Kittens29 Apr 2006 04:41 GMT1
Ok, not so free. These little innocents come with the need for
neutering, shots, tests, check-up, good food and lots of love, and
maybe a furry friend.
5 lil wons born into a world over-populated with their kind already.
Perfect Patio Weather!29 Apr 2006 02:57 GMT15
After the nasty storms blew through here on the evening of Tuesday, 4/25,
the temps dropped about 30 degrees.  Wednesday it was only about 60F and
downright chilly.  Yesterday it got up to about 75F.  Today, it's expected
to be about 79F and there is virtually no humidity.  It's ...
Francis at Easter28 Apr 2006 23:10 GMT25
I've just come in from the garden where I was pruning a buddliea. Francis
reverted to kittenhood as he was pouncing on the clippings. With a
particularly long bit, I ran about the garden (not an elegant sight)
dragging the long cutting behind me and Francis was running after it,

Aparently the Japanese have found a loopehole in the whaling ban - they can

HD hand surgery28 Apr 2006 18:54 GMT13
Peter's hand surgery is scheduled for Friday. He is a bit worried about it
as he is a welder and needs full use of his hands to do his job. He will be
out of work about 2 weeks. Any spare purrs would be welcome.

Fluffy Vanishes28 Apr 2006 18:23 GMT22
The saga started around 4.00 yesterday when DH told me he had let Fluff out
for a run.   I always get all cats inside before dark and the more slippery
ones, like Clyde even earlier.
Fluffy never goes too far and always comes home within an hour at the most.
Yes, there *are* cat-friendly landlords28 Apr 2006 16:30 GMT72
When Nancy and I were looking for a rental property 4 years ago (it's hard
to believe we've been here this long) we had an awful time finding a place
that was big enough for us and would allow our three (at that time)
kitties. We were delighted to finally find this place.
Purrs Please28 Apr 2006 12:41 GMT18
I don't often ask for purrs for myself, but, as many of you know, I have
been volunteering at our local Humane Association.  Last week, they posted a
job opening for an Office Manager (who would be doing on a daily basis what
I do once a week).  It's listed for only 30 hours a ...

Section Eight Purrs?28 Apr 2006 07:24 GMT18
The disability people have all my doctor's stuff on me. And I have not
received pay in a month--not because of being on leave, but because they
bank goofed up my records for the last period worked! The doctor has
also extended my leave and dropped the bomb on the bank: transfer his
