Brief question: anyone try this dry food and find their cats unusually
thirsty?
Long story: We were out of town Friday evening, getting back Sunday at
noon.  Rather than pestering my neighbor about feeding Oscar, I bought
Meowing and Thyroid13 Jan 2006 18:48 GMT10
I remember reading something here about cats who have thyroid problems
meowing more than they usually do.  Does anyone have any information on
that?  Jessie just had blood work done and one of the things the vet
suspects is thyroid problems.  She's 6.5 years old, losing weight ...

Robbie update13 Jan 2006 14:56 GMT2
I have literally just spoken to the Animal Reception Center at Heathrow,
and they said that Robbie arrived safely about 15 minutes ago. He's
having his paperwork & microchip checked by the DEFRA vet now, and has
been put into a kennel with a litterbox, bed, food and water to just

Advice request13 Jan 2006 10:06 GMT37
I emailed our pet sitter with the following message:
Our new alarm system keeps track of when it gets turned on and off and
when doors are opened and closed. According to the records, you spent an
average of 10 minutes per visit inside the house, including three visits
Oops! Poor Scouty!13 Jan 2006 05:09 GMT6
I wondered where Scouty had gone because I hadn't seen her in about an
hour... so I opened my closet door and she was sitting in the corner
under my dresses! She must have walked in when I had the door open to
put my shoes away in the shoe rack and she was so quiet that I didn't
Pilling, a Favorite Topic13 Jan 2006 05:01 GMT2
I'm sure trying to pill a cat is something we've all experienced and
had a hard time with.
But this is a new one.
Arthur has asthma, and has to take Prednisone once a day.  Now, I

No poop yet!13 Jan 2006 02:47 GMT3
OK, I checked Jessie's litterbox this morning and still no poop!  She's
doing this on purpose, I know she is - she's squeezing those little hind
legs together and holding it in just to spite me for making an appointment
for her with TED this morning.  Well, she's going to be very ...
Jessie Interim Update12 Jan 2006 23:53 GMT2
I took Jessie in for her blood work - they took two full beakers (and had to
stick both her front legs because one clotted too soon - poor baby keeps
switching from licking one to the other).
They're doing a CBC, geriatric panel, and thyroid screening.  They're going

Sammy, here, reporting on the newest threat from The EVIL Doctor. This
afternoon when the hoomin brought in the mail, he said I had a
Birthday Card from my TED. The hoomin says along with the birthday
greeting, there was a complimentary offer of a free BATH! That may not
Super Vets TV programme (UK)12 Jan 2006 14:34 GMT7
Super Vets on BBC1 at 8.30pm. Thurs.
Follows the vets at the RVC in London. Tonight (Thurs) a vet surgeon

I'm looking forward to seeing. I wonder if Rolf Harris will be there
Jessie Update12 Jan 2006 13:50 GMT21
The vet took tried to get a fecal sample, but couldn't get enough for a
positive parasite determination.  She did go ahead and treat her for round
worms, but said that usually adult cats don't get them (we know that Jessie
did have them, at least 3 months ago, because DH *saw* ...
