Hiding in plain sight27 Jul 2005 23:02 GMT1
I called Persia.  No Persia.  I looked everywhere; under the bed, in the
closet in my bedroom, under the tables in the living room.  I looked behind
my desk in this room and in the closet in here - on the shelf (she likes the
shelf) and in the dark corner behind my vintage dresses.  ...
Blindsided by a kitten27 Jul 2005 22:55 GMT9
I was chatting today with a vendor at a local farmers' market on the grounds
of a church, when someone placed an exquisite little grey kitten in my arms.
"What are you doing to me?" I asked, nuzzling the tiny darling. "Don't you
know I'm the world's greatest ailurophile?"
Turkey!27 Jul 2005 21:07 GMT1
On this mornings bike ride some turkeys crossed the road and I
daydreamed how it took a year or so after I moved here before I saw
turkey and, given how often they're around since, it was surprising in

Wrestling brothers27 Jul 2005 14:36 GMT13
Fez and Rufous don't seem to want to act like full-grown cats, even
though they're 2 years old now. Pretty much every morning they engage in
a wrestling session, like boy brothers often do. Rufous does a very
unusual thing, that I've never seen before. He stands on his back legs, ...
poor lil' confoosed jasper27 Jul 2005 14:13 GMT4
We are getting new furniture in our living room tomorrow! (yay!!)
However, we had to get rid of some old stuff tonight and the living room
is missing a couch and a coffee table. Blind cats obviously rely on
things being in the same place all the time! So, poor Jasper was
Bittie RIP :(27 Jul 2005 14:02 GMT32
I am almost in tears as I write this, but as I was leaving to go to Mom's
(and take her a dozen +/- home-grown tomatoes), I find Bittie along the
foundation where her & Mama had been for the past couple of days - no sign
of Mama (but she was there for her am feeding).  I checked ...
New Pics27 Jul 2005 13:51 GMT18
I took the camera outside late this evening for new pics of everybody,
all six--except Bosley refused to go out and have his picture taken.
Kids.
This is what I found when I went looking for them. It was actually
Voyage of the Mouser: Nighttime Raid27 Jul 2005 11:39 GMT3
It was night and all felines were fast asleep.  Stanley was passed out
in his hammock on his back and his toes were twitching from him being
in a deep dream.
Suddenly a paw came flying out of nowhere and unhooked the end of the
Please send your purrs...27 Jul 2005 10:54 GMT54
We just had to rush our Isis to the vets...she has an enlarged heart.  We
don't know if she will make it through the night.
Please send purrs to her!
Inspirational!27 Jul 2005 10:27 GMT3
I'm watching an Oprah re-run that I didn't see the first time featuring
Lance Armstrong (from before this latest win).
He is truly, truly inspirational.  Oprah had brought a woman on who was
battling cancer (and who got her will to fight from Lance) and gave her a
Success of rec.pets.cats.anecdotes27 Jul 2005 06:19 GMT8
I visit and participate in a number of newsgroups, but this one is far ahead
of the pack for sheer volume of participation! It's amazing but not
surprising how much we ailurophiles love to write and chat about our
kitties. What's also remarkable is how interesting and varied the ...
How long will it take them?27 Jul 2005 06:01 GMT16
That is what I asked myself on Sunday when Hobbes went on a restricted
diet and we had to terminate free feeding at our house.  How long will
it take before they learn to eat when food is put down?
Hobbes had his cardiac sonogram last week and it showed that his heart
Speaking of Fences (OT)27 Jul 2005 03:20 GMT18
I've been living in this apartment complex for 9 years now.  I never had a
complaint until they decided to rip out and re-build the fences around the
patios in 1999.  The old fences were 6 feet tall and provided privacy but
they needed to be replaced.  The new ones they installed ...
