| Little Miss and the Phone | 14 Jul 2005 22:14 GMT | 4 |
Sometimes, when the phone rings, Little Miss runs over to the phone. If the answering machine picks up, she will stand over the phone and look at it. Then, she flips the handset off the receiver using her nose. It's the funniest thing to watch her do. So, now I tell people when

| The weirdest thing | 14 Jul 2005 22:06 GMT | 19 |
I came home this morning to my brood and there were three oreo like cookies on the floor. You can tell that they had a grand time with these cookies-- but, ironically, I have never bought these kind of cookies and haven't had visitors here in like a month--hhmmm--maybe a treat from ...

| Cats & String | 14 Jul 2005 22:03 GMT | 4 |
Along with boxes and paper bags, cats adore string. I was digging around in a junk drawer and found a very long heavy (like a shoelace) string, about 6 feet long. Lord knows why I have it but have it I do. So I wrapped it around the doorknob of Persia's favourite closet with the ...

| scary time | 14 Jul 2005 21:19 GMT | 4 |
We just had a scary thunderstorm. Pouring rain and lots of thunder and lightning. Rusty was, as usual, hiding under the computer desk. I was worried about window leaks from the strong slashing rain. Then the power went off. I had some difficulties finding my candle

| Lawcat update (partly sad) | 14 Jul 2005 18:34 GMT | 2 |
In an IM chat shortly before she left for the island, Marina had directed my attention to a thread here from some time ago, where she'd said that our lawcat Tiger was missing. Sadly, it was true; he's been missing for months now, and we have had to assume that he's at the RB.

| Bird hunting | 14 Jul 2005 18:01 GMT | 4 |
Cat caught a sparrow right under my nose last night. For some reason it was languishing in the border so I came out to stand over it knowing that cat was out there. Unfortunately I had my hands full. Suddenly the bird move an inch and cat shot over and pounced. I called my wife ...

| For Ann - the Tucker story (LONG) | 14 Jul 2005 17:48 GMT | 2 |
I know many of you are already familiar with Tucker's tale but for new folks who'd like to know his story... Our backyard seems to have the hobo equivalent of "good eatin'" here marked somewhere on the Ponderosas -- this probably has to do with the fact that I

| Oscar! | 14 Jul 2005 17:47 GMT | 2 |
I've been posting OT a lot ... let me try to post something on topic =) When Oscar's particularly happy to see me or Eric, she drools. As far as I can tell, this only started in the last year or so.

| My three furbabies | 14 Jul 2005 17:32 GMT | 4 |
In my kitchen is a small trash can with a flat lid. I store empty pop cans there. Sheba has adopted it as a perch to supervise me in the kitchen. She can better see what I am doing from a higher vantage point and I can see her so I don't have to shuffle my feet to avoid

| IBKFergus grows... | 14 Jul 2005 16:31 GMT | 10 |
IBKFergus may be growing larger, but she certainly isn't growing *up*. Nothing is safe from her. He favourite hobby seems to be knocking breakable things off surfaces I thought were cat-proofed (ha!), playing "herd of stampeding elephants through the Serengeti" in the dead of night, ...

| Easy life over | 14 Jul 2005 15:33 GMT | 4 |
My best friend's baby has literally just started to crawl in the last couple of days, the 5 cats are not amused! One bolted through the cat flap and has not been seen for 24 hours, one has already had a (small) fistful of fur pulled, one never takes its eyes off her, only one is

| Cat toy possibilities? | 14 Jul 2005 06:07 GMT | 5 |
For those of you who have cats who qualify under the heading of "goofy," like our little black guy, Robin, please note there is a possibly amusing cat (actually, kid) toy in the Froot Loops cereal boxes (we have the 1/3rd less sugar variety at home now) that say "Wobbler inside" on ...

| Raspberry Tyche | 14 Jul 2005 04:17 GMT | 11 |
I set the table, including a glass of raspberry juice, and went back to the kitchen to get my noodles. Arriving with noodles, I see Tyche sitting on the table merrily dipping her paw into my juice. Now she has three white paws and one pink one.

| Easier than I thought! | 13 Jul 2005 22:51 GMT | 26 |
You learn something new every day: I just found a quick way to eliminate troll/heckler messages from the NG using Outlook Express. My original process was: (1) highlight one of the unwanted messages, (2) click the Message menu, (3) select "Create Rule from Message", (3) follow

| apartment followup | 13 Jul 2005 22:27 GMT | 8 |
Well, the manager brought round another letter today... they say it was a 'clerical error' and they'll get back to us in the 'near future' with accurate information. In other words, they just gave everyone in the building the same letter, because most of the tennants never sent
