Smokey writes Harry Potter20 Jul 2005 04:54 GMT12
Smokey has had to deal with Meowmie and Paw occupying his couch all day
reading something called "Harry Potter."  Smokey says he can write
better books than that, and here are the titles (And synopsis)
1.  Hairy Poker and the Philosopher's Phone
Cat eating grass -- need help please20 Jul 2005 04:41 GMT53
My big orange fuzzbuddy "RJ" is clawless (former owner) and has zero
survival skills, so I never let him outside. Besides I live in the
city and cats get run over all the time.
Anyway I now have a private patio w. high fence, so he can go out
Early Birthday Presents!19 Jul 2005 23:46 GMT10
With all the things John is dealing with in terms of his elderly mother, he
still found time to put some stuff in the mail for me :)  Okay, so it's
early.  Better early than never, right?  He found the CD for the soundtrack
from 'Cold Mountain' and sent me that.  Our favourite track ...

Spotty back from TED - no more stitches19 Jul 2005 22:40 GMT6
Just got back from TED. Oh, and Sammy and Spotty were in cahoots in
pulling a B*ST*RD C*T TRICK. I thought Sammy was telling me where Spot
was hiding when the time for the appointment was close. Nope, now I
know Spotty had deliberately let me see her hide under the recliner,
Good time to leave for a while19 Jul 2005 22:26 GMT8
Well, it's that time again, Dennis gets back from Myanmar on
Wednesday.  I'm going to Bangkok a day early because I'm picking up my
wedding ring which I've had re-set in white gold.  Very excited to get
it back, I hope it's nice!  I've only been having about 5 heart
What do you do with your cats if you have to go away?19 Jul 2005 21:43 GMT39
John has to go to Orlando to do a training course at the end of the
month and he wants me to go with him... which sounds like a great
chance for a mini-vacation and to see his family (who live there),
until my mother brought up a valid point - who will look after the

As regards what I'm supposed to have said under the beverages thread, here
is what I posted. You will see I did *not* cross-post, and I am certainly
*not* the author of the bit you object to. For you to check, I have included
the headers and full text of what is in my outbox... ...
How do cats tell time?19 Jul 2005 18:45 GMT4
I don't know how she knows what time it is, but Cleo has a fit every
morning an hour before dawn.  If she happens to be sleeping in the
bedroom with us she wakes us up.  She is determined to be in the
correct window when the first rays of sunshine come streaming in.  The

Remember Pirate?19 Jul 2005 17:13 GMT7
For those of you who might remember, Pirate was a beautiful, shy, FIV+
rescue kitty that I was extremely lucky to find a wonderful home for in
2003.  I keep loosely in touch with his catslaves, Diane and George, who
have Pirate and two other FIV+ rescues, and this is what I heard ...

this is really frustrating!
Semi-OT: filters in Thunderbird19 Jul 2005 16:48 GMT21
I seem to be having a weird problem with my filters in Thunderbird. Most
of the time, they work just fine and I don't see any messages by the
trolls. However, sometimes they come through, and when I try to create
the filters again, it lets me, like the original filters were ...
Trouble with ceiling fans19 Jul 2005 16:34 GMT7
Trouble is the only cat I know who talks to ceiling fans!  She
chatters at it the same way she does when she sees a bird outside the
window.  She's been trying to get that thing since she was 2 months
old, now she's over about 4 years old.  You should see her head follow
