Oh, what a day!17 May 2005 20:12 GMT25
I am *so* glad we didn't take any of the kitties with us today!
I recently developed one of the common rewards of driving a truck - a
hernia. The medical center where my doctor practices doesn't do Worker's
Comp cases, so we were referred to a local hospital emergency room.

Disclaimer: I have no financial or other interest in LinkedIn.
On the advice of some colleagues, I've started using a service,
http://www.linkedin.com.  It's a little hard to describe, but I've both
gotten in touch with old friends and gotten at least one active job lead.
Two ways to use monitors17 May 2005 17:50 GMT14
In Heinlein's _Stranger in a Strange Land_, Mike, the human born on Mars
and acclimating to Earth conditions, had, one day, a succession of
experiences tying his shoelaces:  between two shoes, and on one show.
When asked what he had learned in the day, he replied he had learned ...

Has anyone use this kind of litter box?17 May 2005 16:39 GMT1
I am looking to replace Rusty's 10 year old box which is falling apart.
Saw an ad some years ago on a box which roll back and forth to get the
waste into a drawer for disposal. I am wondering whether the waste
will stick to the inside of the box, and whether litter box liner can be

cat eats cereal!17 May 2005 15:46 GMT10
Well, this is a new one.  This morning, I somehow managed to drop a
box of Meuslix on the floor, and some cereal spilled.  I was about to
clean it up, but hesitated because Oscar seemed interested; instead, I
let her nose around while I ate breakfast.
Beatrice's smurgling17 May 2005 15:27 GMT3
She isn't looking for milk as much as for comfort. She seeks it in my hair
and when I get tired of it, I put her on the sleeping Abelard, who lets her
nuzzle all over his body including the inside of his ears. If this would
happen in daylight, I could get pics!
Purrs for soon to be shelter kitty17 May 2005 15:11 GMT19
It came to my attention today that a five month old kitty needs a home.
I'd take her if i could, but hubby says nope, absolutely, no freakin way.
She was a stray that adopted a family, but they can't keep her because
they already have the amount limited by the bylaws here, so ...
Snared by a bittie...17 May 2005 14:20 GMT5
I have a very sneaky feeling that providing I can get HRFL to accept
him, Flanagan will be staying as part of my motley furry crew...
He's quite the cheeky little bittie. :o)

[OT] Need Bicycle Advice17 May 2005 13:51 GMT17
I know there are at least a couple of bicycle enthusiasts here.  I have a
question you might be able to answer.
I think I may have convinced DH to get a bicycle, but he's hesitant still.
The problem is he's quite a bit overweight (which is one reason I would like
Need Job Purrs [OT]17 May 2005 13:49 GMT32
My request for a raise was turned down and as a negotiation tactic my boss
had the nerve to imply that I wasn't a good enough "Executive Assistant"
(because I once answered his phone on speaker phone when my hands were busy
coding a web page), and that that was my job title (even ...
[OT] My Bikey!!17 May 2005 13:48 GMT12
Man, riding a real bicycle is really *NOT* the same as exercising on a
stationary bike!
It's nice and cool here in Houston (*GASP*), and I didn't have time to go
for much of a ride last night (my granny bike doesn't have lights and
Baby Beatrice has arrived17 May 2005 13:44 GMT12
Picked her up today. She's still a tiny thing. She drank some evaporated
goat milk from a saucer but has not shown interest in the gooshy food yet.
(I think she was full when I got her.)
She is sleeping next to my foot right now. So far nobody has hissed at her.
Concentrated purr session for Tweed?17 May 2005 13:40 GMT33
Many of us here know how effective the power of purrs can be, and how
remarkable things can happen when we as a group purr collectively.
I wondered if we could have a collective purr session at a specified
time tomorrow, to send our concentrated positive purr energies towards
