MSH update06 Oct 2004 04:20 GMT3
Mount St Helens decided to vent some steam again today. I'm trying to
find some more up-to-date news regarding seismic activity, etc. I'm
always concerned about the folks living in that vicinity, but now I have
even more reason to care - I'm going to Oregon again! I've got a
OT: Update on Truck Purrs06 Oct 2004 04:17 GMT2
John called this morning.  Hmmm, as soon as the tow-truck showed up the
truck started.  Now, I can either choose to believe he had those car/truck
greeblings we have all experienced (you know, where the noise stops when the
mechanic tries to hear it) OR... I can believe he wanted to ...
Read the headline05 Oct 2004 23:05 GMT8
If you follow the below link, and read the headline only, you'll probably
get a chuckle, like I did.  When I first read the headline, I said "Well,
DUH, whadja expect?".  The story is sad, but still, the headline...<giggles>

cat book " Asleep in the Sun"05 Oct 2004 16:33 GMT6
Sometimes being *way* behind in reading has benefits.  In the NYT Book
Review 10/26/97 :-) there was a nice review of a cat photo book so I
logged into Amazon and bought it for a coupla bucks.  Someone here can
tell me post-facto whether it's worth it I'm sure, heh. and there are ...
Truck Purrs05 Oct 2004 14:40 GMT9
Or should I say mechanic purrs?  Or purrs for John?
John called this morning.  Even though he had his truck completely
overhauled (by that I mean everything wrong fixed) before he drove up to
Kansas, there's another problem.  It's either the starter, solonoid or
Trapping Update - Frustrated!05 Oct 2004 14:34 GMT5
Well, so far we've trapped the afore-mentioned possum, a neighbor's *very*
large, *very* angry gray and white cat, and *TWO* racoons (in the trap at
the same time!!!).  But we have not seen hide nor hair of the little gray
cat with the too tight flea collar!!  I'm going to talk ...
Kitten types by imitating MomDad!05 Oct 2004 12:17 GMT4
When my partner was hand-raising a pair of three week old kittens, he
was also writing his Masters' thesis.  He would type with the box of
kittens on his lap, so he could talk to them and keep them warm.  They
very quickly bonded with him as their "mother" or MomDad as we settled
Cat versus lawnmower !05 Oct 2004 09:23 GMT14
Who will win ?
Trap worked - wrong animal!05 Oct 2004 07:02 GMT11
Well, we know the trap works - it caught the possum that's been coming
around for a couple of months to clean up any leftover cat food.  I had
heard someone describe a possum's defense and had a chance to experience it
tonight - YUCK!!!!!

New laundry basket game05 Oct 2004 04:24 GMT6
Little Feet has a new game.
Tonight, I sat the laundry basket on the bed, the better to unload the
fresh, warm clothes.
Little Feet ran into the bedroom, jumped up on the bed, then leaped

Yes, everyone, I'm still alive.  I'm just trying juggle homework,
school projects, work and my latest new activity, springboard diving.
But I realize that I haven't had don'e one os these in a long time.
So while on a break from studying for my first exam this semester,
Lindy gets vocal05 Oct 2004 01:13 GMT3
Lindy has always been a bit of a talker, but the last week or two, she's
outdone herself.  Sometimes her meows sound hoarse, but I suspect that's
from talking so much.
One thing that was really strange - I am not a morning person, and since
No cats on the desk...05 Oct 2004 00:24 GMT12
This is what I tell Buster practically everyday. He'll be sitting on
the corner of the bed nearest the desk, and will eye the desk.
I always tell him "No kitties on the desk, not even pretty grey ones."
Sometimes I even have to redirect his attention or move him further
