| One white whisker | 16 Aug 2004 03:47 GMT | 13 |
Dear Martha is a curious kitty. A tortie, she has a dark face with dark whiskers to match. All except one, which is snow white. And not to be outdone, her new little adopted sister Sophie has a gorgeous shiny all-black (Kiwi rugby fans pls note!) coat, save for two tiny

| Potential recruit sighted on soc.religion.paganism | 15 Aug 2004 23:48 GMT | 1 |
I just spotted a potential recruit on soc.religion.paganism who wrote a very nice article about his family of cats and whether ferals and rescues are as likely to bond to their human as a kitten. The article was titled "OT: The cats as of 15 August".

Signature "The universe is quite robust in design and appears to be doing just fine on its own, incompetent support staff notwithstanding.

| Sacrifice of the pom-poms BW | 15 Aug 2004 17:39 GMT | 12 |
It has taken this stupid human 2.5 years to finally understand the significance of a particular behavior of my youngest, also known as Stripey Thing. From the time he was a kitten, before eating, he would get a pom-pom, his favorite toy in the world (and still is) and put one

| Luna in the attic space... again | 15 Aug 2004 15:18 GMT | 2 |
I woke up at 4am after hearing my pager go off. When I got up to find the pager, I noticed the AC closet door was open. Dang! That probably means Luna or Issa climbed up and got into the attic space. I saw Issa, but couldn't find Luna. Then I heard her cry. Dangit, I though, how ...

| Kitty Farmcat missing | 15 Aug 2004 12:12 GMT | 20 |
Yesterday when I got up, Kitty FC was not in the house for her breakfast as usual, but there was still some food in the dishes and it was obviously going to be a very hot day, so I thought maybe she just out sunbathing somewhere. She had not returned by 1 pm when I had to leave for ...

| T&H Update - Long | 15 Aug 2004 09:53 GMT | 10 |
Tallulah and Hubert seem to be settling in a bit more; Hubert is okay so long as he's got mom, naturally, and Tallulah's periods of calm between times of wanting out are getting longer. She's relaxed enough a couple of times to play with Hubert without reservation - they've

| Playing catch with Tucker | 15 Aug 2004 09:30 GMT | 4 |
Tucker and I have a game we play now -- and, it involves me "fetching," of course. Tucker will sit in the top bed of the tallest cat tree and wait for me to throw little balls of paper up into his "nest." Then he'll bat them down and all over the place for me to retrieve ("here, ...

| It took 37 years... | 15 Aug 2004 09:24 GMT | 6 |
My son is 37 years old. He has lived with cats all his life. But he is a macho, dog type of person, he says. He walks through the house and the cats scatter before him. I walk through the house and have to scoot the cats out of my way. I open a cupboard or closet door and

| Sammy's turning my hair gray(er) | 15 Aug 2004 05:41 GMT | 9 |
Good news: Sammy's paw is back down to normal and she certainly doesn't have any problem using it (fresh scratches on my hands and arms can attest to this). Bad News: She's making me crazy!! Jumping, running, rolling in tumble

| Love bites and love kicks | 15 Aug 2004 04:35 GMT | 9 |
Imp came to see me this morning!!! He hasn't done that in a while. I'm half awake when I sense him behind me. I roll over slowly and start scritching the side of this face. he leans into my hand and eventually flops onto his side. This continues for a moment, with him

| Fez and Rufous at TED | 15 Aug 2004 04:12 GMT | 7 |
Today we took Fez and Rufous for their annual checkup and vaccinations. They did great! Not a peep out of them, not even when they got poked. Fez was afraid of TED for some reason, but Rufous was most indiferent. :) They're both sleeping now, after having dinner with the gang.

| Clembert's a boy! | 15 Aug 2004 00:03 GMT | 20 |
I'm pretty sure. I scooped him up and lifted his tail, which he did *not* appreciate. So he is now officially Hubert. If I am mistaken and he becomes officially Clementine, I will post an update. ;-) Hubert is still afraid of me and has taken up residence behind the

| Harvey is fine. | 14 Aug 2004 21:12 GMT | 3 |
Harvey was destined to be right in the way of Charley's storm surge, along with his doggy pals but everyone came through unscathed. So...anyone know WTF the deal is with animal shelters hurricane wise? I have absolutely no damn clue.
