Sort of looking for a new cat21 Jul 2004 07:11 GMT13
I know it is soon, and Bonnie and Shamrock haven't been retested for
FeLV yet, but I've been browsing Petfinder.  The first kitty looks
just like Marley (RB for over 2 years) but Marley was short-haired.
The second has a really sad story. PJ needs socializing, but I've
Persia:  no post-op checkup yet21 Jul 2004 04:43 GMT8
I have one of those Sherpa bags for her, the kind that opens either at the
top or on the end.  I can usually managed to sort of shove her down and zip
the top up before she can jump out.  This morning, no go.  She jumped out,
ran and hid.  I had to cancel the 8:00 appointment.  She ...
Ping anyone from Australia21 Jul 2004 04:09 GMT6
Especially if you are from Victoria.
As most of you know, Dennis and I are in the process of applying for a
resident visa in order to come and live in Australia.  Our plan is to move
to Margaret River, 300 km south of Perth, WA.

No, I'm not kidding.  You know those cords that hang down from
mini-blinds.  Well, mine are not the unsafe kind.  They are short and
have a little bobber thing on the end.  The Stripey Thing will get up on
the back of the recliner and start batting the bobber thing around.
Duffy the Bandit20 Jul 2004 21:18 GMT4
I was having a ham sandwich for dinner.  Duffy was perched on the arm of the
chair beside me.  Suddenly, he reached and grabbed a little edge of ham with
his teeth and *pulled the whole thing out.*  So there we were -- Duffy had
the ham (which fortunately had landed on the plate), ...

Purrs for those in need. I'm sure cattle and people aren't the only
ones in need of rescue!

We're back from Purrth (long)20 Jul 2004 16:10 GMT8
Well, we just got back home from our trip to Perth.  We actually got in last
night, but ended up staying the night with our friends in Bangkok because
they told us that a guy from the company the guy works for got killed on the
highway to our house one night last week.  So we ...
Persia has an appointment20 Jul 2004 13:38 GMT14
Tomorrow at 11:00 AM for a post-op check up.  Poor girl will probably be
thinking "Oh crap, she's going away again.  Last time she went away they put
me under anethesia and shaved my belly and did who knows what to me!"  Naw,
not this time ;)

The Alaskan Trip is near OT20 Jul 2004 00:42 GMT8
We have only just over 2 weeks until our trip begins on 1st August.  I
will shortly post the dates we will be in various places so that
hopefully we can meet some of the rpca gang.

Abelard found in pool....20 Jul 2004 00:23 GMT11
This morning when I came back from watering the horse herd in a nearby
pasture, Abelard was standing in the little wading pool I have in the yard.
Just standing there, looking down into the water.
He looked up at me as I approached, as if to say, "Look, mom! I'm in the
Article on Pet Neglecters20 Jul 2004 00:21 GMT2
With all the discussion we've been having lately about people who
adopt pets, without really seeming ready or willing, or realistic
about the responsibility it entails, I wa interested to see this piece
on Slate.com.  It describes perfectly a situation I bet a lot of us
Hi from Annie in Sweden19 Jul 2004 22:27 GMT1
I have got some mails from Annie, as we are trying to arrange a meeting. I
hope we will see each other on Monday in Lund, even if it will be very
brief. If we do I will report. And I will get a picture!
Annie asked me to say Hello to you all if I am on the RPCA newsgroup.
Update on my brother Dick19 Jul 2004 22:16 GMT14
It's been a rough week for my brother Dick and for our family.  He made it
through the surgery to put a patch on his aorta last Friday.  But he has
been on a respirator since.  For the most part they have been keeping him
heavily sedated.  Otherwise his BP goes sky high.  He has had ...
