Now, I have always heard that cats communicate with each other via
body language rather than sounds, with the exception of growls and
hisses.  But meowing, I have heard, is reserved for communicating with
us two-leggeds.

I was asked to write a story about my cats and cattery for a cat magazine
that is distributed in NZ.
So with Bev's help my story is below.

With *great* delight, I announce the safe arrival of Cary James
Chapman into the world.  Mother and baby are doing fine.  

My heart is breaking.  I cannot find Oliver anywhere.  We had company
this weekend and they had been extremely diligent about making sure that
Oliver didn't bolt but he might have snuck out when the luggage was

Buster came inside this afternoon, whereupon Little Feet started
running towards Buster. Buster has had his many run-ins with other
cats, so he started running away from Little Feet.

As I make the arrangements for our Alaska cruise I am reminded of our
first trip overseas and in particular our stay in LA.
We stayed at Santa Monica on the way home from that trip as I wanted to
attend a writers' conference held there.

Some of you might know that I am obsessed with Monarch Butterflies.  I
watch them every summer and have a heap of swan plants around to feed
the hungry caterpillars.   I am rewarded with a garden full of them.  
The kitties enthusiastically and fruitlessly pursue them all summer.  

In the hope that Rescue Remedy would help with Grizzys howling and the
constant interruption of my sleep, i have been putting it in their water
bowl daily.
The end result - the water bowl is being drunk completely every 36 hours or

He's not here yet.
I"ve been in the hospital since 3pm this afternoon. They made us wait a fair
while because there was a lady in a bad way after giving birth here, so I
can't blame them, but the prostaglandin gel, which starts the inducing

Phoebe's kittens are now almost 2 weeks old, yesterday a family of 3 were to
coming out to visit, they are getting 2 of the kittens.
I had checked Phoebe and babies to make sure everything was clean and tidy
before they arrived.

I have had an email from Ed (he was the person who lost his beloved
white cat a couple of years ago).  He remembered the story of RB and
wondered if I still had it.   I haven't been able to find it so hoped
that one of the ng. members would be good enough to post it for Ed.   I

Dear NP, We had a birthday party in your honor. We had fried catfish
and macaroni and cheese. It was delicious. We toasted you with every
bite. We hope your humans give you a comparable feast for your big
