Art Gets a New Cat?07 Feb 2004 07:21 GMT39
There was a scratching at the door between the garage and house late last
evening.  We usually  keep the garage door raised a few inches when we're
home and awake, because the cats like to go in and out through that pair of
doors.   My wife opened the door, and there was a dark ...
Sooo sad cat 'lament' is charming07 Feb 2004 05:40 GMT7
My big cat RJ, as all of our beloved kittys will do, has this
extremely sad, sorrowful lament meow that he uses when he wants to be
fed, or petted, or a door opened -- and of course it's charming and
funny, but we can't laugh. It sounds like "meooowwwwwaaaa"

Harvey's misadventures roll on07 Feb 2004 03:09 GMT5
So I was sitting out on the deck when I noticed Harvey get into his 'hunter'
phase. Turns out a dove was just sitting by the tree, observing us. Harvey
wanted to go out and eat some dove but the screen was in the way. He got his
revenge on Nature though, he ate a lizard a few hours ...
Purrs for a little rescue07 Feb 2004 03:01 GMT14
Yeah, I did it again.  It has been horribly cold, with snow and ice
and all that yuck lately here in Ohio.  I managed to get close enough
to a little black kitty to get him (I think?) off the street.  Don't
know if he is an escapee (I'm checking the lost ads) or a dumpee.  His
Happy Dance (was: Stray Cat)07 Feb 2004 02:31 GMT29
The calico girl checked out pretty good at the vets. The tests so far are all
negative, and he doesn't see anything wrong except "she just needs a few
groceries."  She's still going to have to be isolated for a while, just in
case, but it sure is encouraging *so far.*  He gave her ...
Why oh why oh why06 Feb 2004 21:47 GMT5
Why do I keep on stroking and cuddling that damn cat even though I know it
only conditions her to expect attention from me at any time and leads
inevitably to her sitting in front of the monitor poking the keyboard?
Yoga with cats06 Feb 2004 21:36 GMT10
Wednesday is my yoga class. Yesterday's class was cancelled because the
teacher was sick, so I decided I'd try a yoga DVD I bought. I got home,
put on my workout clothes and cleared an area in front of the TV.
Yoga is challenging in itself, but try doing it with a handful of very
I need a cat06 Feb 2004 13:17 GMT21
Today I have a stress-induced migraine. Grrr...
I'm in the process of having a new kitchen put in. My old kitchen is ripped
out, so I have the cooking & cleaning facilities of the third world. The room
is bare-walled, bare-floored and I have a camp stove.

I noticed your post about giving fluids to Natasha, and forwarded it to
my daughter, who had a cat who needed daily infusions.  Following are
her suggestions:

washing cat's face05 Feb 2004 23:37 GMT2
Abby likes to lick my fingers or hand. When she first started doing this I
would rub the part of my hand she licked against her face. I thought she
wouldn't like this and stop licking me. She thinks I'm helping wash her
face. Now she will lick my hand and then rub her face on it.
I got...05 Feb 2004 22:43 GMT12

Bruiser is a Hoolikitten again05 Feb 2004 22:43 GMT6
Its been a week with Mathew, Bruiser's little kitten friend under house
arrest and Maya and me are offically tired of it.  I don't think we fully
appreciated him wearing Bruiser out.  In the last two days he has gotten
really bad.  Way too much energy.  He has been chasing Maya ...
*MY* cat would *never* do that05 Feb 2004 22:25 GMT39
For years, I have told people how well behaved my cats are.
We've never had problems with the cats reaching into our plates, and
they have often waited patiently, if very closely, for samples of our
food.
Stray Cat05 Feb 2004 11:55 GMT43
We were watching TV last night, I looked up and lo and behold, there's a calico
cat looking at me through the window. It was in the middle of a freezing cold
rain.
She ran at first, but wasn't too hard to catch. I had to crawl under the truck
