[OT] Hurricane Isabel tree damage29 Sep 2003 06:09 GMT11
My sister, Mary, lives in Richmond, Virginia.  When Hurricane Isabel
went through there last week, her power was off for five days.  She
sent me a link to someone else's web page showing how bad the fallen
trees were in the Richmond neighborhood known as the Fan, where she
Weeble update:  It's hard to wear the little buggar out!29 Sep 2003 05:01 GMT11
Weeble LOVES to play now.   And climb. he climbs up on the bed, the sofa.
and US (not good when you're wearing shorts)!!!  We've blocked off the
kitchen (we don't want him getting behind the stove or fridge), so now he
wanders all over the house.  Caught him playing 'chase me' with ...
Perfect Sunday Morning (long)29 Sep 2003 04:54 GMT6
Got up early this morning, well at least early for a Sunday. Even
after 10 years after retirement from the Army, I still wake up about 5
most mornings. Most of the time I just turn over and go back to sleep,
but this morning Sammy noticed me awake and decided it was a perfect
How did you name your cat(s)?29 Sep 2003 04:18 GMT29
Just curious.  Names are funny things.  I know people ponder long and hard
about what to name children.  My mother confided in me she was going to name
me after both of my grandmothers, with a hyphen.  Hannah-Lena.  OH NO!
Thank goodness she came to her senses!
Hairballs: Persia doesn't feel good ?28 Sep 2003 21:41 GMT8
A few times in the last week she's coughed up hairballs.  She's normally
right here with me when I'm online, but now she's curled up on the bed.  She
chatters at me when I walk into the bedroom.  And she purrs contentedly when
I stroke her.  But she's content to stay there and just ...

I also put up a picture that Dennis took in Burma of two shop cats.  I love
these guys, they remind me of a couple of rascally Disney characters :-)

A response from BlueBird (long)28 Sep 2003 11:23 GMT2
Several of you have posted or e-mailed regarding your concern about
BlueBird giving garlic to LittleBit.  I passed on your concerns to her,
and this was her response:
Joy, I only used the garlic once.  You know me, I went to the net and
Sad Maya update28 Sep 2003 11:18 GMT15
Some of you may remember that a couple months ago I asked for a purrs
for a customer's missing cat, Maya. My neighbor was moving, and like
so many stories I've heard in the past, the movers opened a door that
was supposed to stay closed. Maya, a strictly indoor cat, bolted
Shamus at the RB28 Sep 2003 10:02 GMT9
I'm posting this for a friend of mine who just lost her cat, Shamus. She
doesn't use the Usenet, AFAIK
>Hi, TC,
>    Today we had our beautiful and well-loved cat, Shamus, euthanized.
The cats of the Blue Cave28 Sep 2003 02:13 GMT8
Last night, I went out to this local bar called the Blue Cave.  The Blue
Cave is a bit of a dump, but some of the pilots from the base here play in a
band and the Blue Cave lets them take the stage once a week, so I try to go
and show my support.
Selena's herb garden28 Sep 2003 01:36 GMT6
I have a built-in, brick planter in my front hallway.  For several years
I have used it as a sort of bench...I should admit that Hobbes has used
it as a bed...because when Hobbes was a kitten he thought it made a
great litterbox if there was any dirt in it. This week it has begun
Micro-Chip Your Friends!28 Sep 2003 00:06 GMT2
The post about the long-lost cat that was finally reunited with its owner
due to an early micro-chip made me think.
When Persia first acquired me, she escaped after a month for 24 hours and I
was frantic.  I immediately took her to the vet and had her chipped.  This
UPDATE:  Mediation27 Sep 2003 18:36 GMT16
Well, we had the mediation yesterday, and the neighbor actually did
show up.  It was pretty awful for the first hour and a half.  She
screamed and called me a liar over and over again :-(  I was calm and
clear throughout.  Finally, she was done screaming, and left an
Whew!  I'm (almost) recovered.27 Sep 2003 12:51 GMT6
Sorry I've been absent so much lately.  My mom was here for a month
visiting.  She spent a week here at the house with me and Dennis and then we
all went to Chiang Mai together.  Dennis had to go back to work in Burma on
Sept. 7th, and after that my mom hung out at home with me for ...
