A lot of pensioners spend far too much of their limited income trying to keep warm and some just can't afford to do so- I read somewhere that with rising energy costs and pensions worth nothing like the current rate of inflation- sometimes a pensioner would have to spend more than 50% of their weekly income to stay warm....
It's a f***ing scandal as far as I am concerned

That happens too much. :-( Sometimes they find elderly folks dead from the heat, and they have a working A/C. They just don't turn it on. They don't realize how hot it is because they may not feel it as we do. And energy costs are so high, that's part of the reason, too.

Where my Dollar store is located at there is a senior center. they have paramedics standing by there daily for there are at least 3 or 4 seniors a day being taken over by the heat. With school starting back I can't see practicing in the day being an ex football player in high school I can not see what idiot coach would make these kids practice in 105 weather

Heat makes me feel ill. It's never bothered Persia before. We've had 10 heat related deaths in the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately elderly people who don't have any standing or ceiling fans.
But in the next county over two teenagers died of heat stroke when their football coach insisted they practice during this heat wave. Oh how awful! So the school switched "practice" to night time. WHAT?! Practice what, how not to die? What is wrong with these people? Is a high school football team so important? Apparently so. Makes no sense to me.

You gotta remember Persia's normal body temperature is triple digits too. She probably finds 80 a trifle cool. I'm pretty sure normal for a cat is 102.5F so she thinks you should be cold and is just trying to warm you up.

I'd say "blanket purrs" for all who need them but since I'm about to die in this heat even with air conditioning I'd turn into a puddle before I could even grab a blanket. You all know what I mean so, purrs to all who need them.
I love Persia dearly but my god, what is the ambient temperature of a cat? Especially one snuggling up next to you all night when the temperature outside is in triple digits and the A/C is working overtime with a new filter to keep it at least 80F degrees when I have it set to 76?!
On a funny note, she snuggled up next to me last night and had the hiccups. So she was purring, then I'd feel her (not hear her) go "hic". And a few seconds later, "hic". (Later, rinse, repeat, as the saying goes). I couldn't sleep anyway but as I was stroking her soft fur I had to wonder, dammit Persia, did you teleport some wine in here or something? Planning a purrday celebration for Weebs?
