I took my 13 year old male cat to the vet Friday and they are doing a blood
panel because he is drinking more lately, but just since we changed his food
to Science Diet Senior, and on top of his back by his tail is very tender to
touch, but he can jump and run fine. He is also eating this new food like a
PIG! . I thought it was arthritis, but now am worried it's renal failure.

I just put my 9 yr old cat to sleep Feb. 1 after a 5 year battle with renal
failure & I"m probably paranoid, but I can't find where a sore back or
kidneys are a symptom. The test will be back tomorrow and the vet wouldn't
really give me a lot of encouragement till we get it back. I'm just looking
for reassurance I guess till tomorrow.  Vet did say the soreness is actually
his kidneys were hurting to squeeze at the checkup.
Thanks!!
