I thought you guys would probably enjoy the letter I wrote from Tigga to his
previous owner.  I noticed when I read it later there were a few typos which
I haven't taken the time to correct.

Dear Grandma and Grandad

I hope you don't mind me calling you that, but since you are my birth mummy
and daddy's parents I figure you won't mind.

I've sneaked onto my new Mummie's computer, don't tell her I e-mailed you,
she mightn't like it very much.  I play quite a bit on her computer when
she's not watching me.  I've learned how to do all sorts of things like how
to set up the keyboard properties using short cut keys.  Even she doesn't
know how to do that but I'm so much more clever than her I can do anything.

I really love playing with water.  Mummy and Daddy put a little bit of water
in the bath every morning and I get in there and play in it for ages.
Sometimes I pull out the plug which is fun but then all the water disappears
so I can't play in the water anymore.  I then try to lick the taps to get
more water to come out.  It works a little bit but not that well really.

I especially like running water so whenever Mum and Dad go to the loo I come
running in and jump on the handbasin so they can turn on the tap and let me
play with it.  The best thing is drinking the water straight out of the tap.
Mummy has to do a lot more cleaning now because sometimes my feet are dirty
and I get dirt all over the handbasin.

I tried to play with the water straight from Daddie's tap the other day.  He
didn't notice me at first and I just about got away with it.  I managed to
get a little tiny bit on my head which they seemed to think was a bit gross
but I thought it was all part of the fun.  Daddie watches out for me very
closely these days and doesn't let me do this.

I love bathtime.  I like to sit on the edge of the bath and watch what is
going on.  A couple of times I've slipped and fallen in.  That's not quite
so much fun, I really don't like getting wet all over.  I'd rather sit in it
and play in shallow water.  Once I've fallen in, it's hard to get out
because I'm slippery all over so sometimes I fall in two or three times.
I'd like to play with the hot water but mummy won't let me.  I guess I'm
teaching her what it's like to look after children.  She'll probably be real
good at it by then.  When Daddy has his shower he sprays the shower directly
at the glass.  I like to chase the water all over the place, it's great fun.

I've grown lots since I left you.  I must be at least twice the size I was
before.  A couple of weeks ago I was so hungry I ate just about all my day's
food in the morning and then I helped Caspa eat hers.  Mummy said that I
must have been going through a growth spurt and that I seemed to get heaps
bigger overnight.  Since then I've been just growing at a steady rate.

Mummy and Daddy laugh at me because I'm quite clumsy.  I'm so busy playing
that I keep falling off things or not taking too much care how I land but as
I'm getting bigger I'm becoming a bit less of a clutz, so they won't be able
to call me clumsy for much longer.  Actually mummy and daddy laugh at me
over a lot of things.

My mummie's friends told her they had taught their cats to retrieve things.
Those cats must be so dumb if they had to be TAUGHT.  I didn't have to be
taught that at all.  It's all common sense as far as I'm concerned.  I mean
if I want mummy and daddy to play with me it makes sense to bring them my
toys doesn't it.

There is another big pussy cat here, actually I think she is more of a wussy
cat.  She tries to make me think she's really grumpy but I don't think she
is really.  It's all a bit show.  When I come in I like to tease her by
sitting right beside her dish as she eats.  She doesn't like that and hisses
at me but I think that's funny so then I get really close to her and pretend
that I'm going to eat her food.  She sometimes gets in a huff and goes
outside.  The other day she was really weird.  She looked like she wanted to
play with me but she looked really fierce.  Mummy and Daddy say she doesn't
know how to use her body language like most cats.  She can look like she
wants a pat and like she wants to smack you at the same time.  On this
particular day she kept on jumping at me as though she wanted to play.  But
when I would chase her she would hiss and run away so I would stop, and then
she would come and chase me again.  She doesn't hurt me but she's really
strange.  I think she's just a big wuss really and wouldn't know how to hurt
a fly but is trying to pretend she is tough.

I also like to sneak Caspa's food.  Caspa has the Salmon flavoured Proplan
and I think that smells pretty good, much better than my own food.  Caspa
likes it better than my food too.  Every morning they put food into two cups
so they know how much they're feeding both of us.  They give Caspa a little
at a time as she comes in so I don't go and eat all of her food since I like
it better.  I've always got my food available but when they're not looking I
jump up and sneak the food out of Caspa's cup.  I must be getting pretty
good at this because I think I stole about 1/4 of her cup of food yesterday
when no one was looking.  Mummy has said that she is buying Caspa the
chicken flavour one next time so that I can't tell the difference.  I'll
show them though because I'm smarter than she is.

Daddy has made me this really cool cat tree and I helped him finish it off.
My job was to jump on his arms and legs while he was trying to cut the
carpet to the right shape and glue the carpet on.  It made it a lot easier
for him to cut the things to the right shape when I was doing that.  It's
almost finished now, just needs to have the ladder finished and a bit more
rope added.  We're looking for a cheap source of rope as Daddy worked out
we'll need another 50 metres to complete.  I'll send you a photo of it.  I
really love playing on it.  On the third level there is a hole in the middle
and it is so much fun.  I can climb through it, wrap my legs around it so
they meet in the middle and play with my toys through it.  It's my really
favourite level.  There is also a box underneath where I can go and hide if
I want to.  Then when mummy and daddy walk past I can jump out and give them
a big fright.

I'm allowed to sleep on the bed at night which is pretty cool.  My favourite
place is right in the middle between them.  That way I can make my presence
known better.  I'm pretty good though because when mummy and daddy go to
sleep I go to sleep also.  The person that said cats were nocturnal
creatures must be daft because that is the best time to sleep.

I discovered long grass a few days back.  It felt very strange but it was so
much fun.  I was dancing all over the place with my tail fluffed up in the
air.  Then I'd scoot along a bit further and repeat it.  Long grass is cool
fun.  I also learnt how to climb a tree which was a real blast.  Daddy was a
bit worried though because I didn't seem to realise that I shouldn't walk on
the thin branches so he was watching me very closely to make sure I didn't
hurt myself.  I'll show him though.  Us Bengals can do anything, even the
things you humans think we can't do.

My aunty came around to see me the other day so I put on my worst behaviour.
I'm not used to having other people around so when mummy picked me up I
wiggled and squirmed and demanded to be put down.  I was worried my aunty
might take me away from my mummy and daddy.  She only stayed a little while
though and then she didn't take me so I'll try to be better behaved next
time.  Mummy was surprised her little angel could act so differently.

There are lots of cicadas around here and  they are a lot of fun to play
with.  I've been told they won't be around much longer so I'll have to find
something else to play with but I have lots of tools and if I can't find
them then I can always play with something that I'm not supposed to play
with.

I have a toy bunny that is almost the same size as me.  I've mostly ignored
it but Daddy started playing with it last night and it was heaps of fun.
Sometimes when I play I jump on all four legs and last night I jumped really
high, straight up in the air on all fours and made mummy and daddy laugh.
They think it's funny when I jump around like this.  They say it looks like
I'm trying to dance and then they keep trying to get me to do it.  I do it
when I'm feeling especially exuberant and excited.

I was a bit naughty the other day.  I found this plastic bag and thought it
would make an excellent dirt box.  I used it about 2-3 times before mummy
caught me about to use it again.  She wasn't very impressed because it was
on the table and she says I shouldn't do things like that on the table.
Most of it was in plastic bag but a little bit had leaked out onto the
table.  She took me off and so I found another plastic bag straight away.
This one was in the rubbish bin.  Daddy said it was designed for rubbish but
not that sort of rubbish.  For a few days I thought that plastic bags were
better than dirt boxes but I know better now and have been a little angel
for the last couple of weeks.  I always get this funny expression on my face
when I go though so they couldn't get mad at me and just laughed about it so
I was pretty lucky really.  They should be grateful I chose the plastic bag
and not the carpet.  Towels and bathrobes on the floor also were lots of fun
to use but mummy doesn't leave those lying around anymore, but I wouldn't
use those anymore anyway.

I have behaved myself as far as the new drapes are concerned but I do love
playing under the net curtains.  I like to play with my toys there and it
makes the curtains jump around which is lots of fun.  I haven't put any big
holes in them yet though so mummy hasn't got mad with me yet.  She's just
happy she hasn't had to put the old curtains up while I grow out of this
stage.  I help her put the dishes into the dishwasher.  I sometimes try to
help her put the clean dishes away but she's less keen on that.

Mummy gave me an old ball of wool to play with and the other day I decided
that it was time to go about destroying it.  I dragged it all around the
tables and chairs so I could make it as difficult as possible to put away.
I then dragged it into the bedroom and all through the house.  It sure was
fun untangling it and then watching my parents put it all away again.  While
they were trying to put it away I was busy trying to spread it further.  I
can't wait until mummy gets her baby shawl out again and tries knitting it.
She's been working on it for the last few years and has almost finished it.
She tells me that she has put hundreds of hours into putting it together.
Well I'm sure I could take it apart in just a few minutes if I see it lying
around anyone.  I'm far more clever than she is in that respect.

Mummy and Daddy said they were taking a holiday in July for a week or two.
I asked them if I could go and stay with Grandma and Grandad but they said
they're not sure whether they take their grandchildren for holidays so I
thought I would ask you myself just in case.  So if you will take me back
for a few days can you let me know.  I promise I'll pay my way, otherwise
mummy and daddy will find me another home for a few days.  If I come I
promise I'll be as naughty as possible because I know you love it when I'm
naughty.

Mummy says she might be seeing you at the end of next week at the pet show
if you're hanging around where she is.  She also said that I might have some
nephews by now and was wondering how many new babies you had.

Anyway I must go.  Mummy's at a training course and she'll be coming home
soon so I better get off this computer before she catches me.

Love from
Tigga

P.S.  I've just had a lovely time playing with a bowl of lollies that was
sitting on the coffee table.  I've been picking out the red ones and seeing
how many I can hide around the place.  If I keep this up I might be able to
hide the entire bowl.

That was incredibly cute.  :) Tigga sounds like a joy to have around. I
hope it works out for your holiday.

Yup, it should do.  The breeders are happy to house him during this time and
they're well set up.  My one concern is that he will probably be housed in
an outside cage and it'll be middle of winter.  It doesn't get really cold
here but he's used to sleeping indoors at night so hopefully his coat will
be thick enough.  i'm sure they'll look after him well though given that he
was one of their babies.
