In memory of my cat LUCKY...

Last night I sat and watched as my 18 year old friend took his last gasps of
breath...he wasn't a pet...nobody owned him...he wasn't just around at
feeding time...he was there all the time...

I would put him out of the back door in the morning and he would be at the
front door in 30 seconds...that was his days exercise...

He was older than 6 of my 8 kids from 2 previous relationships...

We all cried together this morning...but on the other hand we were all happy
that we had met him in the first place...

He found me on a pub car park back in 1986...he wasn't a kitten but he
wasn't a fully grown cat...as I was on a Lambretta at the time I had to get
someone to give me a lift home with him...

Bye Lucks....

This is Lucky yesterday morning...he was having a good 10 minutes...the old
jumper is one that he always loved me to wear...he would snuggle up to me
and bury his nose in it then pad into me with his sharp claws...when the
jumper looked so bad I couldn't wear it any more I placed it at the bottom
of the wardrobe...that was about 8 years ago...yesterday was the day I long
dreaded...I knew when I got up yesterday morning that Lucky was tired...I
could tell he had done all he could to make his 18 years a pleasure and that
it was time to join his many friends...so it was straight to the wardrobe
and out with the old jumper...we placed him on it and let him rest...he
looked so pleased that I had remembered...

Yes, 'bye Lucks.  He sure was a character, wasn't he?  And he sure knew how
to pick a good friend and a good home.  Sorry for your loss.

God Bless.

Around 2.00pm I plucked up the courage to ring the Pet Grematorium...I got
him there around 3.00pm...tears streaming down my face and bloodshot eyes I
left knowing that in 2 days I will be bringing him home again...Oh how I
miss my friend...

You will never forget him. Which is how it should be.

Yes.  We miss them, every one, but some leave a bigger hole in our hearts
than others.  I read your post about the old jumper (haven't gone to the pic
yet, but I will).  It was so touching, and so right.  They're comforted by
such things it life, but especially so in passing.  You're a good soul.  May
you soon find more joy than sorrow in your memories.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my sweet kitty on Feb. 1st. She was only
9, but had renal failure for 5 years and caring for her made us extremely
close.

It doesn't seem possible now, I know, but it will get better. I cried again
today for Muffin, but hadn't cried in almost a week.  You'll miss Lucky
forever, but time will heal and he'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow
Bridge (He looks exactly like my cat Patch!!) And he looks GREAT for an 18
year old cat. You obviously took wonderful care of him and I know he loves
you for that.  God Bless.

I've cried at your reply...it's the emptiness that hurts...

I have to collect his ashes at midday...maybe a little of that emptiness may
disappear!!!...

I'm sorry for your loss too...I really know how you feel...

These are scanned pictures so the quality is very poor...the pictures
themselves are excellent...the first one is of Lucky and me a couple of
months after I had broken both my arms in a m/c accident in 91...you see me
wearing the grey jumper...the second one is from last week sitting above me
and nudging into me...
