Hey
never been to the news group before, but I'm trying to get some
help;

my cats are having problems with dry skin, or so it would seem.  One cat
goes wild when you go near his hind legs or anything...   he looks like he
is going to bite you and then starts licking your hand.  He will eventually
bite, but not right away.  The other cat has only looked like she has been
itching a little but after really digging down to her scalp to see what's
going on, there are scabs EVERYWHERE.

Does anyone have any advice for this?

Thanks

please email indyweb@cogeco.ca

Sounds like it could be an allergic reaction to something. What kind of
flea treatment do you use? Although I see you're in Canada, it's not
flea season there.
What do you feed them? Some cats are allergic to corn.

Well, we thought that too as we have just changed their food, however... we
changed it when the first cat was having problems -- it's a food for healthy
skin or something like that (girlfriend bought it).  So, I'm not so sure.
We've just moved in to a new house so maybe there's something different here
that we are overlooking, kind of crazy.

As for fleas, we don't think that's the problem, but we definitely aren't
discounting that it could be the answer.

I would switch to a food without corn and see how that goes. If it
doesn't go away soon, go see the vet.

Consult with your vet.

Definitely getting to that point, just trying to avoid the cost -- not too
sure how much it could be, but have heard some good stories!

How about posting in alt.med.veterinary? Perhaps someone there will have
some insight.
