Hi everyone,

I don't have a cat but one of my neighbor's cats (female) comes over
and visits every day, sometimes for many hours.  We spend a lot of
time together and she is adorable.  Then she goes home and comes back
either later or the next day.

The behavior:

Every now and then, she acts strangely.  She meows and moves from room
to room, demands I open closet doors so she can go inside and look
around, demands I pick her up so she can see what's on shelves, on
tables, etc.  By "demands" I mean she makes small chirping/meowing
sounds and when I pick her up she purrs and her eyes get very wide and
she looks at everything on the shelves.  I've done this a few times
but it's getting boring.

What is she looking for?

Many thanks for your ideas.

Have you ever wanted to peek in your neighbors medicine cabinet?  Your
visitor is just poking around, and your giving in to it, so she's continuing
to poke.

Cats like routine.  She enjoys looking around your house -- it keeps
her from being bored.  Do you arrange any little surprises for her?
It might add some pleasure to the game.  I think you are lucky to have
the little visitor who obviously likes you.

Ah, so it's just a game and her being nosy.  She's so sweet I can't
refuse her.  Ok, some on up on my shoulder and let's take a look at
this closet...  oo look, here's the attic...

'-)

Cats don't go anywhere if they don't want to.  In fact, if a cat doesn't
like his/her home and has the ability to go outside, they'll travel to
another person's house in search of a "better" living arrangement.  Could it
be that this cat is happier with you than it's owners?

Sounds like a Hare Krishna cat.  Hurry and kill it before it starts
bugging you for donations.

Please keep your sordid off-topic posts concerning animals that don't
swing from trees out of alt.flame.niggers.  It spooks our livestock
when they see something that doesn't involve muder or rape, which is
their major hobby.  We can tame them fine enough.

Thank you for your kind cooperation,

Sven.
