Due to Racial concerns regarding the term "Coon" In California there are plans to propose a proposition to drop the term "Coon" and use a different word for the name of the breed. The new term will be announced nextweek. Ye gods I've heard it all now..! I love the US and have spent much time there, and have many good friends in California in particular, but none of them are *that* stupid..! Personally, I don't know the history or the meaning of that reference, but I'm all for doing away with it simply on the grounds that any slang term for a whole group of people sounds tacky and is probably meant to be derogatory. I will *not*, however, put up with anyone deciding for *me* against a perfectly legitimate name for my cats. Silly. Unfortunately, not surprising though. I've wondered before why the misguided PC Police hadn't jumped on the idea.
