Over the past 1.5 weeks, one of our two cats had defecated 3 times in the
house, and not in the litter box.  one cat is 14 years old, one is 8.  The
first time was in the middle of one of our dog beds, and now twice in two
nights in the middle of our dining room table on our placemats.

Obviously this is quite unusual and distressing.  The only change, or new
thing we can see in the house is the addition of a Norfolk Pine plant which
the older one seems attracted to.  From what i can find, these are not toxic
plants, but perhaps i've not found the right information.  Other that the
"presents", the cats exhibit no other out of the ordinary behavior.

Tomorrow i shall consult my vet,  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

any changes like that are usually a sign of distress, either emotional - due
to a new addition into the house, or physical - more likely the problem in
this case.  I would highly recommend you see a vet, but your going to do
that.

Are you or any members of your household going through an emotional time?
Cats not only pick up on the physical changes in the house, but also the
emotional changes going on-  like stress, depression, anxiety, and such.

hope things get better for you!
