Isis does many things which perplex me. One that always makes me crazy is when she lies on her back, looks at me, and makes funny noises. I know I am upside down to her at this point. Her eyes get glazey and I believe she is in a yogic trance of some sort. Of course, being human, I ask "why". Why would a cat want to do this? What is the joy of looking at things upside down? That's something my Missy does on a regular basis, she rolls over on her back with her paws in the air with a "I'm so sexy come and get me" look (!) then when I attempt to tickle her belly she grabs me and digs her claws in..! My male makes urrrping noises all the time. We'll touch him when he's sleeping and he'll urrp.. or well talk to him and he'll urrrp, or we'll walk behind him and he'll urrrp. In our old house he used to urrrp going down the stairs. In our new place no stairs. Tina I think you are all correct. I commend you for your bravery. It doesn't take Isis long to get into that mode where she grabs my fleshy hand with her front paws and does the 'rip 'n tear' dance with those buzzsaw rear legs. You guys know what I'm talking about. Isis died in 1995 at seveteen years old. We now have a female cat that lays on her back all the time and I think she does it because she knows that we will pay attention to her. I have heard that showing their belly is a sign they want attention or trust you (though not necessarily that they want their bellies rubbed -- some cats love this some cats hate it). > Isis does many things which perplex me.
