Hello everyone

I was just wondering if anyone here knows of a good vet they can recommend
in the Toronto-Markham Ontario area.  I am looking for a new vet to take our
baby Tiger and our older cat Twinkles too.  Due to the issues with our
current vet.

Thank you

Chris, I don't know if this is going to be close enough to you, but thought
I would put in a recomendation for the Amherst Veterinary Hospital. Over the
years, until I left the Scarborough area, they took good care of Sussie
(passed away December, 2003 at 15) and later Rascal (now five or six years
old and living with my daughter). Two years ago I moved to Mississauga and
have found a new vet here, but I have the feeling they have not changed
their attitude to veterinary care in the meantime, as they did not do so
over the thirteen years I took my cat/s there. They care and listen and they
take the time to explain things to you. That's important to me.

I can't give you a recommendation as I don't know anyone in the area..
sorry.  However, I can suggest you call around, see what their policy is on
getting appointments in for a hurt leg, or not eating.  Also check how much
some of the common medications are, especially something that your pet would
be on long term.  Around me, some of the vets won't get you in to see them
the same day no matter what.. I know.. I get calls all the time that the
person's vet can't get them in and the pet hasn't been eating for days.
Also, if the prices on maintenance medications are high, the vet obviously
cares about making money as opposed to making sure everyone can afford to
give their pets the meds they need.
