stages of pregnancy?

Hi everyone,

I have 4 cats at home. 11, 10, 9 years old... and 8 months old. (All fixed
except the little one). It's a long time ago I followed a cat pregnancy and
I am wondering if my "baby" isn't pregnant.

What are the week by week stages of a cat pregnancy? When am I suppose to be
sure she's pregnant, and how. From when can we start feeling the foetuses
move?

She is not especially wide and round, but she does have an "unusual" small
roundness to her belly that feels very much like an early pregnancy.

What other signs should I look for?

Thanks for your help,
Mia :)

Mia,

Here are a few signs you can check for if you are uncertain whether your
female is pregnant, use the following signs as an indicator of her
condition.

. Her nipples should become pink.
. Gradual weight gain of about 2-4 pounds.
. Swollen abdomen.
. Exhibits "nesting" behavior.

Check with your veterinarian as soon as possible in order to better care for
your expecting feline. If the female has mated and has become pregnant, you
can expect her to give birth in about 62-69 days. Three weeks into her
pregnancy, you will notice her nipples becoming pink, firm and erect. By the
end of the fourth week, you will notice her belly enlarging. And anytime
after the seventh week you will be able to feel her kittens moving about
inside her belly.

Pinking up at about 3 weeks....  so if her nipples are looking pink she is
in her 3rd week of pregnancy.

Do not feel her tummy! you may damage the kittens!  that is for the vet to
do! who will be able to tell you if she is and how far gone.

So its the 8 month old who is pregnant! aww that's so young! are you really
sure you want her to go through with this?
you don't know who the father is, and if he has any thing wrong with him?
personally I would be very careful if I was you, you have 4 cats to think of
her as well as the kittens.

I would take her to the vet if I was you.

good luck

Soozy.

Yes it's my 8 months old... She's in very good shape and very healthy, but I
have been worried a bit about her ... if she's pregnant. She's a bit
young... :( On the other hand, I am 99% sure I know the male-daddy and he is
also a very healthy cat. That is, of course, if there is only one daddy...
But I'm not all that worried about illnesses... all my cats have their
vaccinations up-to-date and eat high quality food that I take at the
vetenarian. The neighboorhood's cats pretty much all seem healthy as well.
All that still doesn't change the fact that my baby is only 8 months old
which would take her to almost 10 months old when she'll give birth, if she
is pregnant, and that,s young. I see no point in going to the vet at the
moments, She is healthy, and pregnant or not, I'll go with the flow. I am
not going to end a pregnancy, (I don,t want to argue on that)... and wether
she is or isn't pregnant, I will know soon enough. I spend a lot of money
for my cats to be healthy and happy, but it doesn't mean that I have that
much money as to say I'm going to the vet "just to know if she's pregnant".
But you can be sure that she'll have me following the developments very
closely and making sure that everything is going fine. To the slightest
health treatening worry, my hands will be on teh phone and I'll be calling
the vet.  :)
Thanks for your answer.. :)

Mia I was meaning who ever the tom cats are that may of breed with her, It
would be awful to put your kitten at risk being pregnant by a tom with an
illness, or with genetic problems.  I know you look after your own cats with
inoculations and good food, but that doesn't mean the toms that may of bred
with her have not got something wrong.

This is why good breeders have blood test done before mating for the health
of Queen, Stud, and kittens.  I would hate something to be wrong for your
kittens sake and yours.
There are so many nasty things FIP etc etc
I am not having a go at you, just thinking of the kittens health and her
kittens too

Oooh I see your point :(
I know you,re not having a go at me :) It's good to pass on the information
and some good advice. :)  It's not cause I grew up with cats and care for
them as though they were my babies that I know everything about them... it's
always good to have some input, advice, guidance, information, etc... :)
Thank you very much for your answers...

I will do the necessary to insure the best for my cats (and the kittens if
my baby is pregnant). At this very moment I can not go to the vet, for
transportation and financial matters, But as soon as I can, I'll do it.

I'll keep you updated, :)

from the third week, her nipples should have pinked up. Gestation is around
65 days after 70 days should consult a vet as kittens could be big.
most cats get a round tummy and feels firm should be able to feel kittens
from 6-7 weeks but DO NOT prod as you could damage the kitten's.
The cat behaviour could also change friendlier or not and they usually are
always hungry.

hope this is of some help and good luck

Thanks for your answer... :)

The only way I feel her tummy is by putting gently my hands around it just
to get the feel of how big it is (without pressure)... so don't worry... I
do have some knowledge about cats lol. :)
The "maybe mother to be" is extremly affectionate, but she always is. What a
purrbox she is, ;)
