We found a kitten...or rather she found us...and while it's hard to tell,
I think she's only about 8-10 weeks old.  I've taught her how to wash
herself using a warm washrag, and she uses the litter box like a good
girl to defecate...but she urinates wherever she finds herself when it's
time to go!  She doesn't seem to have a particular spot.  If she's standing
in the kitchen with me, or in the bedroom...she just squats and pees right
there.

How can I teach her she must use the litterbox for urinating also?

One other question.  I am currently feeding her Gerber baby food
(beef) with a little sodden kitten chow mixed in.  Is this okay to
feed her?  I wish I knew her exact age...it would certainly help.

Thanks for any assistance.

P.S.  She's got 6...yes 6...toes on each front foot.  Her paws look
like catcher's mitts.  We named her Annie...short for Anne Boleyn,
(who also had a 6th finger! :)

You should first take her to the vet to rule out a medical problem.

No, that's not a good choice, particularly if the food has onions in it
(they cause anemia in cats). Buy a good quality canned kitten food and
feed her that. If she won't eat that, try some KMR formula.

Congratulations!

That is beautiful. Congrutilations. You became a cat's pet! :) She definitly
found you. Cats just know! My neighbour also got adopted by her cat Lucky.
She simply followed her home one day, and made herself at home. That was 13
years ago :) Also my charlie more or less adopted me and other 3 cats,
although it took him a while longer, but once he dared come inside, he made
sure I know this is now his territory: by spraying the place big time he he.
Obviously the snip snip promptly followed and he is now a family member.

She will be due for vaccination then. Please take her to the vets for a full
check up, vaccination and like Victor said to rule out any urinary
problems. Also vet can check for fleas which can be a dangerous nuisance. May
I also point out that females can get pregnant as early as 4.5 months old,
so please consider the op in the near future.

First, see if you can get more then one litterbox, or an old baking dish,
then place them in a few areas.

Second, see if you can collect some of her urin and place it on a CLEAN
litter in each tray. Even a tiny bit. Obviously cats sence of smell is MUCH
better then ours! If unsuccesfull use even your urin-in tiny dosige :) This
is to simply associate the smell with the tray so she gets the message.

Finally, Every time she does it, qucikly pick her up and drop her (gently)
in a litter tray, and SHOW her what to do: hold her front paws and scratch
the litter with them. Then when she does a wee there give her lots of praise
and treats. If she runs out, don;t yell or nothing, just pick her up next
time and do the same. Cats are usually smart, and will understand within 3-4
showings.

Awwww..... :) Bless. That is so rare. I 've seen it on animal planet, but
can;t remember what is causing it, although I think it's  asimple genetical
disorder.

Meat baby food is fine as long as all there is in the food is meat and
broth.  No additives.  Its also not good for long term use, as there aren't
any additional nutriants growing kitties need.  Adult cat food is better
than meat baby food.  Kitten food is better.  Ive often used the baby food
as a 'treat' to sneak meds in, or to entice kittens that wont eat.  Switch
soon, so you don't spoil the little one.  Also stay away from fish foods on
a regular basis as it contributes to UTI.  A little is ok, but it shouldn't
be a staple.
