I have the Time Life series of books that tells about fairies,
goblins, and strange creatures that inhabited our world in ages past.

One of the books tells how these otherwordly creatures appeared, were
seen, or entered our realm especially at the borders. They appeared at
twilight between the border of day and night. They appeared at
crossroads, at the edge of a woods, or at streams at the water's edge.
I mention this because it occurs to me sometimes that Isis will sit at
the border of one room or lie in the sun just at the edge of the
shifting sunlight. If you watch your cat you'll see the same thing I'm
thinking,

And when she is in repose at a border in my house I think to myself
that there is a connection between cats and those strange other
worldly beings that made mischief on mankind. Just something to
consider.

I know exactly what you mean--flakey as it sounds.  Other animals occupy
a slightly different universe from us humans.  Cats in particular
sometimes seem to display that quality of knowing where lie the portals
to other realms.

Way cool observation, Mike in Illinois.
