I would like to know what brand of insecticide is safe to use around
your feline companion. I need to spray for ants and cockroaches in my
kitchen and I was wondering what insect spray is the safest to use? I
don't want to use something that will harm my cat Ginger. Does anyone
in this NG have any recommendations?

Not a spray, but 5% sodium borate decahydrate (Na2B4O7·10H2O) in a sugar
solution will take care of most common 'sugar' ants. It's used as a bait
and you put it in places the cats can't readily get at. I make my own
with Borax and honey. Terro is a common commercial brand. It's slow, but
through: it wipes out the entire colony. Borax also works on roaches, but
I don't know how to apply it. Google for instructions.
Borax is relatively nontoxic to mammals when ingested. I don't have the
50% LD rating for Borax, but for boric acid, it's 0.20 to 0.50 g/kg.

Probably none of them......Any chemical that kills insects can't be good for
either cats or human beings.
