Anniekat is now about a year old...
and at night she will nestle in...purr and knead for quite a long time.
While in her "trance" I can pet her as much as I want and all she does is
purr even louder.

However...after some period of time...she will all of a sudden "wake up"

and if one touches her then she will barr her teeth...as if saying:

"Well I might have been all purrs a minute ago...but *now* I am a wild and
dangerous animal!"

Then she will settle in at the foot of the bed and go to sleep.
The sleep of a wild animal...and not that of a tame house cat.  <G>

LOL !!@!!!!!!!!!

She's a great little cat...but she'd rip my hand to shreads if I ever tried
that one.

Remember...she is a *wild* and *fierce* jungle animal.
not a little furry house cat or anything like that <G> !!!

That's not weird; that's normal cat behavior.  When they have had enough
petting, cats generally do one of three things: leave, threaten, or bite.

Most cats can be easily "over stimulated" by petting.

As my neighbor learned the hard way...he now knows he can safely pet
Big Mama
exactly 8 1/2 times before being bitten or scratched.

What are you people feeding your cats? I can stroke or scratch my Deetoo for
hours on end, stomach, pull her tail whatever, she laps it up and comes back
for more. Maybe I got lucky with this cat, but she's the most unviolent cat
I've ever come across.

Well, my cat is about a year old...
cats usually mellow with age...although as everyone knows...each cat has
their own
distinct personality

I have fifteen cats - of the ones that want the most petting, one flops
down on the table in front of the keyboard and demands that I comb out his
long hair, even his belly - when he's had enough, he starts getting
nervous (after a pretty much complete combing and much petting), then just
jumps down; another starts off the same way, but if I'm not very careful
where I put my hands, after about four strokes of his belly, he draws
blood - no warning, just a light chomp (a serious bite from that cat
requires immediate medical attention - he's very big and has very big,
sharp teeth); a couple of others grab my hand if I touch their bellies,
othewise they seem not ever to get too much petting; another demands short
petting sessions at frequent intervals; and so forth for the others.

My good old departed buddy "White Cat" would flop on the floor and cry until
I petted and brushed him.
He could never get enough!

That's because he's a boy cat.
Girl cats are more "sensitive".

Yea, my cat is also just like that.
