Isis is quite partial to catnip. For a few years I've been giving her a
monthly dose of Calamity Catnip that a friend gave me in a 2 ounce jar.
Well, I was running low so I searched out a vendor on the Internet and found
this:

The gal who runs the place is real nice and very attentive to orders. So,
the little package came in tonight in the mail. I opened it up and put the
sealed plastic pouch on the kitchen counter. Next thing I knew Isis was
going crazy. She was up and down and all over the place. I figured she was
extra hungry but it turns out she was right by the catnip pouch having a few
good sniffs. After a good feeding I put some of this Super Catnip on the
carpet and, as always, rubbed some in her fur to give a better show. She
enjoyed it pretty doggone well. She went fairly crazy over it.
If you like to give your cat catnip I'd suggest the store above. Fast
service and a gooood product!

Big Mama still likes catnip at 14 years old.
I put it in a tied-up sock and she tries to tear it open.
It's believed that it produces a psychosexual stimulation in
cats because of the oil mimicking pheremones.
A bit like marajuana for people, it makes them excited for a bit,
then they mellow out.

Catnip is actually an interesting herb for people as well.
Being it's from the mint family, it's oil can be used:
1. to make tea,
2. as medication for upset stomach,
headaches and nervousness.
3. be eaten when candied as a desert
4. be smoked for a slight euphoric feeling
I wouldn't doubt it could be used in cooking also,
but I have no idea in what.

Isis likes it but only once a month. I gave her a second dose tonight and it
was booorrrriiing.
I told the gal who sold me the catnip I recommended her out here and that
Isis was smelling the 'nip even in the sealed bag and she wrote back:
"Thank you very much for the nice email regarding my catnip AND the
recommendation. I greatly appreciate it. I am glad your cat likes it. I have
tried double bagging it.. and they still smell it. One lady wrote me that a
strange black cat was IN their mail box laying on top of the package when
she went out to get her mail. That was a new one.
Thank you again for your order.
Blessings
Jeanette"
Best to Big Mama.
