Yes, if you get close to her and smell, she smells kinda funky. She does get combed daily, and she gets the occassional sponge bath. Strangely enough, Mama is the first cat that I've had that didn't mind being rained on. Then again, she has also lived longer than any cat I've ever owned... so I prefer not to mess with a good thing when I see it. When I first moved into this house, (my first house in Oregon after retirement from the Bay Area in Northern California) a cat, "Missy" with a limp and a lump, came with the house. I first noticed her sitting on a sawed off tree stump at the edge of my property in the rain...She was obviously enjoying the rain, and I thought it weird for a cat to sit in the rain......But it turns out that it was pretty normal for an Oregon cat....Missy is dead now, but we have four cats, and they all come in sopping wet whenever it rains.....I think it's good for them...It keeps the fleas down...... I maybe got you mixed up with Deetoo's owner. I thought we had a talk about baths, pros and cons, risks and rewards, and possible hazards to human health. Was that not you? Don't know if you saw my follow-up comments, but trying to bath her in the kitchen sink was a wasted (and dangerous) effort. I won't be trying it again unless Deetoo gets something undesirable or smelly all over her coat. <-: I remember now. So you did try it but it turned out to be like juggling razor blades? <-: Isis is about due for a bath and nail trim.
